What high moral ground from the Board - let's not dress this up much more than it is - we are an active selling club, it is our model and we will always sell off the crown jewels and re-invest in lesser known players. Im not saying I have an issue with this btw, but the Board have done so since our return to the Prem.

Id be more worried if we had **** players no one wanted. Like West Brom, WHU or Stoke etc...

A public apology from a rival club for doing the wrong thing is moral high ground. We are entitled to change our direction and not sell for once, they're our players and I for one applaud the board for standing firm on this. My opinion is that we need to stem the flow of players to Liverpool, its like southampton with Champions League up there this season and if we allow it to continue Liverpool will literally think they can have anyone they want, oh hang on, they already do.

We have more than our fair share of '**** players that nobody wants' if by that you mean no-one is beating a path to the door to buy them and the press aren't all over it. Sell Bertrand and VVD this season and I can't see difference between us and Stoke or WBA. Our Back line of Cedric Stephens Yoshi and Targett will be the envy of nobody.

So the idea would be to take the moral high ground and allow a highly influential player to potentially disrupt the dressing room and turn other players heads; so we end up with more than one player wanting out, declining performances etc. To coin a phrase; "one rotten apple in the barrel... "and all for the sake of taking the higher moral ground. Sorry, but we will have to beg to differ on this point.

There's no victory in selling him now to get him out of the club. We lose our best player and the wider perception of that would be a directionless board that cannot manage a football club. Any organisation needs strong leadership, holding on to him even out of principle is going to be necessary this year. If it comes down to it he can train with the reserves for all I care. The message here is don't be a twat, you cant do whatever you want when you want while under contract. To me this is part of a wider change in direction, much needed I feel.

Saints put players on long contracts for a reason. Presumably to stop other teams automatically assuming we would sell at the first hurdle if a decent price came in.
For me Saints either stick to that philosophy or they just as well stop putting out rhetoric of trying for the Champions league etc. As it would be total bull ****.
Also they need to let players know that once they have signed the long contract they are here for mostly the length of that contract.
If we are to progress that has got to be the way the cookie crumbles IMO.

Looks like Leicester are going to buy McGuire from Hull for a mere £17m....wtf are we doing?
One of the best young CB I have seen for a good while and would be ideal for us

Jack Stephens m8, world class.

nb - I do think Stephens is decent, but he's not ready to be a PL starter. Most of his impressive moments were rectifying his mistakes re positioning. Nothing wrong with that, but he needs to go on loan to a Championship club instead of being 3rd/4th choice here.

Stephens will start alongside Van Dijk next season. [HASHTAG]#itk[/HASHTAG]

Said it more times than I can remember. If we want to to progress properly then the exit door has to be properly shut. And bear in mind that those players, who signed long contracts, were more than happy to do so when they did. So it's no good trying to crawl out of an agreement just because someone up the road thinks they want them. After all, that's the first reason why players work under contract, so that a club can guarantee they'll have 11 players to take the field at any one time. Can't have best players, good players, any players, buggering off just when they feel like it.

Gardos is awful
Regardless of where VVD ends up we need to replace Fonte with a front line CB, like McGuire
To handle the league and two cups we need four decent CBs. I know we are being linked with a young Polish player but is he equipped to start in the league? No, probably not
Also like to see Stephens moved up alongside Romeu as a second CDM

Hojbjerg will play that role alongside Romeu in the long term.
