So you're trying to be clever and twist a point out of something that wasn't said?
Not at all. Changes to Corporation Tax doesn't affect the ability of businesses to make ends meet, it affects their after-tax profit margins. It would be incoherent to respond to reduced profits by reducing the size of a business in the way you described, as that would simply make it worse. I've no particular axe to grind either way in respect of Corporation Tax - it's just what you posted made no sense. It's Ok though, you're in good company on this thread.... :bandit:

Real wages in the UK have stagnated compared to the rising cost of living. I think only Greece and one other European country have slower wage increases compared to relative growth, couple with the massive percentage rise in food bank use since 2010 and an increase in child poverty. Austerity just doesn't work, especially in advanced capitalist economies. Even from a non-moralist perspective austerity is just crap economics and the 'Tories are heartless but economically sound, Labour have good intentions but economically illiterate' myth needs to die; it doesn't face up to analysis by economists. Hayek and Friedman's neoliberal economic theories that inspired Thatcherism and Reaganomics in the 80s and 90s and have become the new consensus in Britain and the United States by the main political parties (until Corbyn won and started advocating Neo-Keynesian policies) are simply failing.

Loaf of wholemeal bread-75p
Flora-£1
Block of cheese-£1.50
Bag of apples-£1.
Bunch of bananas-£1.
Water-free.

Cheese sarnies and a couple of bits of fruit, happy days.

There's a weeks work of healthy pack up for a child for just over a fiver with bread, cheese and margarine left over for next week.

How hard is it to make sure your child has something to eat for lunch at school?

Not very is the answer.

Yes you wonder what people here would think if Isle of Wight and Isle of Man where Argentinian

I wonder what the native South American Indians of the area now defined as 'Argentina' thought about being invaded by colonising Spanish conquistadores back in the day?

50-50- sovereignty?

University fees are lower than public school fees and most people are only at university for three years, you're at school for fourteen.

Inheritance Tax is the unfairest of them all, you should be able to hand all your tax-paid savings on to your kids after you die.
We'll if your kids are sensible you are better signing things over before it gets anywhere near that stage.
Obviously you never know when your times up but you get the general picture.

The issue I have with the so called Dementia is this:

A person that has worked all their working life, paying tax and NI, and only having had minimal use of the NHS (GPs, minor accidents, etc) is then expected to
pay for care in their old age.

They've already contributed but at the time of their life when they need the NHS the most then they have to pay again.

I know the issue of social care of the elderly is one we must face but this seems grossly unfair and surprisingly it's probably the middle England Tory voters
that will probably end up paying for it. It's a strange move.

and Labour are lowering the rate at which Inheritance Tax starts - another form of Dementia Tax but those of low IQ who actually vote Labour, conveniently forget that

Food banks issued 41,000 food packs between 2009/10. Between 2016/17, the number of food packs issued was 1,200,000. People using food banks can't afford food, that's why they use food banks.

You seen the film Good will hunting? The scene in the bar when the student is trying to impress Sadie frost?

I ain't had a pay rise for 4 years so I'm falling way behind with inflation running at 2.5%.

The trouble with that means it's open to abuse isn't it.

Maybe you should have studied sociology as well as politics.

Some people use food banks because it's free food, nothing to do with affordability.

This is my fourth General Election. I've previously voted Liberal Democrat, Conservative, and Green. I don't support a party. I vote based on what I think is the best option for the country at the time.

I've never voted Labour as I've never really seen what they have to offer. Just Tory-lite.

I'm voting Labour this time.

The Labour campaign has been about policies. Policies that benefit a lot of people. Policies with detail and depth. Their leader seems to be a charasmatic man with better morals and a better understanding of people. I'd like a leader who would try talking and understanding before bombing and invading.

The Conservative campaign has been shallow and full of soundbites. Very little detail about what they can do for us. All "don't vote Labour, they are rubbish". Theresa May has been afraid to meet the real public. Afraid to talk about any of their policies in depth. This campaign has really damaged her image.

I am sure that the election was called as the Conservatives underestimated Labour and thought they could sleepwalk into a larger majority. Hence the low profile, low detail campaigning. They wanted the general public to just tow the line. Unfortunately for them if there is one thing Jeremy Corbyn is good at it is generating momentum, generating support. At the start of this campaign I expected what the Tories expected. Now I feel a little different. I feel supporters of the Labout Party/Corbyn are far more likely to make the effort to vote (as shown in his leadership contests). I have a feeling now that they may just sneak it despite the obvious media bias.

Also my local conservative MP is a smarmy, bandwagon jumping waste of space.

A Corbyn government would be like electing the Militant Tendency, its unthinkable at anytime let alone during a Brexit negotiation.

Labour, never again.

If only it was that simple, dementia often creeps up on people and before they realise it and it's no longer possible to change things.

9000 x 20% =1800
1800 x 14 = 25,200

are you telling me that parents would pay to put their kids through private school, for them to end up working at McDonalds?

How much family allowance do you get per child?

Is it still called family allowance?

My point is you can feed a child for less than £20 per month when it comes to school lunches. Fact is there's a hell of a lot of irresponsible parents who spend money that should go on their kids on themselves and expect some ****er else to foot the bill when it comes to feeding their kids.
