Sarkozy!!! You are needed!! The UK Conservative Party desperately needs your leadership and vision to haul itself back towards the European Conservative mainstream. If non-British people are good enough to manage PL football teams, and have positions of authority in UK businesses and services, it is about time a political party appointed a continental as its leader.
My statement isn't false though is it? Your beliefs are broadly left wing and you believe the left wingers did best and the right wingers did worst. So the statement is accurate. I didn't say anything to the other person because at that stage I'd heard one opinion and had no idea what had happened. Okay, fair enough, I thought. Then I come on here and see the usual set of left wingers talking about how the left wing politicians all did so well, how the right wingers were all terrible, and are now complaining that the press don't agree with them.
You don't know my beliefs though, that's my point. The only thing I have been calling out on here is austerity, that isn't a left wing thing. That is a Tory thing. For the record I am a neutral. I vote for whoever I see is doing the most for the sick and disabled and poor. If that was the Tories, I would vote for them.

Now, I haven't memorised all your posts so I can't say you've posted in favour of every single thing on that list but there's enough on there that you have agreed with for me to reasonably conclude that you're left-wing, at least economically. Are you saying you don't agree with that list of left wing ideas? If so then fair enough.
Nobody, nobody has highlighted the fact that the Conservatives have abandoned their status as a mainstream European centre-right party. Therefore nobody has demonstrated that the Conservatives have in reality disenfranchised millions of their voters by issuing Article 50!! To my mind the Conservatives should not be allowed to call themselves "Conservatives" anymore having abandoned the ideals of closer unity with our fellow European countries. Back in 2009/10 Labour really missed a golden opportunity to hammer the Conservatives for their opposition to the Lisbon Treaty by highlighting the fact that Sinn Fein were equally opposed to the same treaty.
Only heard half the debate but my view is... Corbyn did pretty well. Farron answered well but was a bit long winded for me Didnt bother listening to the greens too much or leanne wood too much. Nuttall had 1 or 2 good things to say but was generally ignored and no impact Thought rudd tried her best but she got slaughtered (fan reaction). More because the tories have a poor record in the past 7 years and there policy is non existant. Angus was actually quite good to listen to was he snp? The crowd were definitely progressive. Whether thats the generally feeling or not they definitely enjoyed the answers of the left parties At times from what i saw it was a bit schoolboyish and the talking over each other (not corbyn) was very offputting
Going on that site and reading both sides. I still would say I fall in the middle,I agree with bits from both. So again I am a neutral. I have voted for all 3 parties in the past and will do again if I like what I see. I am not anti- austerity I am anti how this austerity has been carried out.

I guess it does look like a poor show. Personally I don't really care because I don't like these debates and interviews. They were kind of interesting and there was a certain amount of novelty value in 2010 but since then they've not done much for me and I don't think they really reveal much or influence many other people. I suspect May thinks along those lines herself but, more importantly, she's dull, somewhat charmless, not very good at this sort of event and has much more to lose than any of the others because expectations were so high. And of course when she made the decision she was so far ahead in the polls it really didn't matter. Corbyn's played the situation very well but even so I doubt it will make that much difference now either.
