Gosh it is disappointing the mainstream mantra of the right will be sod the environment, look after ourselves and Corbyn cannot afford it he is just fanciful with his magic money tree.

Maybe we should think about the future and not base everything on economics when social injustices should be just as, if not more important.

Rudd is worse than the Plaid Cymru woman. Nuttall is a complete joke.

I think Green and Labour have done well plus SNP and Lib Dems, the UKIP guy will appeal to a small niche but fortunately not the majority.

Farron made me laugh when he said something along the lines of, "Rudd has her statement up next, but Teresa may decided it wasn't worth her time to be here. Don't give her yours, go make a brew and get ready for the Bake off on BBC 2".

That is an interesting ranking !! I had:-

    Corbyn
    Lucas
    Wood
    Farron
    Angus
    Rudd
    Nuttall

I think that Lucas will come out with a lot of credit in the press tomorrow (albeit probably pretty patronising) but the programme just emphasised my point about Jeremy Corbyn capturing the spirit of these times. The crowd was extremely favourable and receptive to his comments whereas Amber Rudd totally bombed. Rudd's performance will be less telling than May's absence. Corbyn looked totally Prime Ministerial. Keep Dianne Abbott off the TV and leave the interviews to Jezza and the gig is his. I can see some broadsheets like the Guardian and Independent being totally swung by his performance tonight.

I didn't watch the debate so I have no opinion on it but I note everyone is saying the politicians they agree with have performed best.

    There's a surprise!

Corbyn came across as a Prime Minister tonight.

It was a good closing statement, especially as he was one ahead of her. But look at the right wing media's summary of the event:
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/81...r-Rudd-savages-Jeremy-Corbyn-magic-money-tree
    https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/36937...ite-death-of-elderly-father-just-days-before/

If Amber Rudd had told everyone to **** off they would still say how brave and steadfast she was in the glare of all those nasty ideological lefties.

That's a good point. The sitting Tory MP James Heappey in Wells, my constituency, actually told a Scottish schoolgirl in a school he was visiting to "**** off back to Scotland" because she said she would vote for Scottish independence. So far this has been completely played down in the mainstream media and only publicised by his political opponents.

Whatever the opinions of the debate itself are, at least they turned up.

The person who wants to be PM after the election, the person who called the election, the person who claims to be strong on leadership, didn't think it was worth her time.

She holds the public in contempt - and takes people for granted.
It would be wonderful to see a Labour government for many reasons (public service investment, tuition fees, welfare support, infrastructure, housing) but to wipe the smile off her face would be the cherry on top of the cake.

Well I'm making a broad point and I wasn't just talking about you but you (like everyone else) have the five left-leaning politicians as the best performers and the two right-leaning politicians as the worst performers.

In contrast, the only other person I've spoken to who saw it said Rudd performed "very well". So, yeah, people like what they agree with.

My dear old mum told me that she had a "discussion" with her hairdresser today about the election, the level of her (hairdresser) argument was that Corbyn is a "clown" and when Labour left office in 2010, Gordon Brown left a letter saying that "all the money had gone"...:emoticon-0120-doh:. I wonder where she got these pearls of wisdom from?.

Maybe not make a sweeping statement that is false then? You didn't even watch it, but try to make a judgement.

Nuttall was a shambles and sounded like a drunk landlord. Rudd got ripped apart by the others, but at least turned up. Did you say to the person you spoke to that they were just saying that as they were a Tory supporter?

As I said, Corbyn wasn't amazing, but he did well. Farron just took the piss out of May which I found funny and spoke far better then Corbyn. Lucas was brilliant. Wood was average. Angus was just above average.

I don't like any of the leaders of the parties. So can't really say my favorite did well.

Corbyn: Boring with a dodgy past

May: Weak with a dodgy voting past ( Gay rights etc)

    Farron: Meh

    Nuttell: Racist drunkard yob

Not having a go, just don't like generalization.

I was impressed with Farron, Corbyn, Wood, Lucas and Angus and would be open to a progressive coalition between them.

So if the Tories win, but things begin to go belly-up, who the hell are the Tories going to call up in place of May? Johnson is almost done in politics and might find it far more profitable becoming a wine expert and doing a journey around Europe's vineyards for a lucrative TV programme. The calibre of people in the Tory cabinet is very poor so I suggest the Tories look outside the box and think about a Conservative leader from an EU country such as Sarkozy, who to my mind, would be an excellent choice to restore sanity to what was once a major European party.
