Jihadist attacks have been happening for decades. Remember that they were hijacking and blowing up planes in the 70's/ 80's. Because it is a lot easier to travel across the world now, the suicide bombers that were once confined to the Middle East can now carry out the attacks in Europe and elsewhere.
