Is this the same evil witch who had to sell the family jewels as she had seriously buggered up the economy? She sold all of the utilities, infrastructure, steel, coal, and anything else she could get her hands on. Billions & billions of pounds robbed from the populus just to support her flawed idea of economics. And let's not go into her methods - granting SS powers to the police to break the miners, using the 'region' of Scotland to try out the poll tax ('as they don't vote for us anyway'), declaring war on Argentina. Whilst we're on it, a very important point about the Falklands. Are you aware that anyone from there had to apply for a visa to visit Britain? British sovereignty, my arse! Bunch of sheep-shaggers up until someone told the evil witch there was oil in the waters. Cue war. (And before you go into a 'who first?' argument - both sides were after the same thing).

Perhaps the name this particular process goes under, but there has always been testing - often through your GP, I might add. How logical. But uncontrollable and not easily leveraged to meet targets).

There have been a number of MPs who have made tv programs where they try to live on benefits. They usually only did it for a week & were normally impressed by the people that had to do it all the time. Try it yourself if you think it's that easy.

Then you get blowhard tories claiming it's a doddle. I'll never forget this clown getting found out for claiming he could live on £53 a week benefits .... http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/iain-duncan-smith-claimed-breakfast-1810086

Cant believe this but chesh is right.

Thatcher removed the garrison from the Falklands and scrapped the south Atlantic flotilla. This as dine despite the argies ramping up their rhetoric on sovereignty. In effect she gave the argues the green light to invade.
She then wrapped herself in the flag and won the 1982 election on a wave of jingoistic nonesense.

Hundreds of servicemen paid needlessly for her vanity and electoral victory

I forgot about the housing sell-off. Totally buggered us all up, and it's probably irrecoverable. All it did was give councils loads of cash to spend (saving the government giving it to them & fuelling 'rates never been lower than with the tories' headlines. If I remember correctly, the government got a large slice of the sale price too. Generations of youth have suffered since. No-one can afford to rent or buy. In Wetherby, everyone's children have to leave the town to get accommodation, rented or bought. The 'affordable' housing we have starts at approx £250k!!

    Just watching Sky...

Sturgeon has apparently said she would happily form a coalition with Labour.

Corbyn and Sturgeon in charge of the country, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I'd rather have Trump

The sinking of the Argie ship killing 600 people outside her exclusion zone in effect a safe area was also probably a war crime. This was done to make sure there could be no negotiated settlement which the USA was pushing her for.

    No he isn't.

He said she started a war to win an election. She didn't. That is what we are debating here, nothing else.

She'd be genius if she could have planned all that, albeit an evil one. The idea she deliberately manipulated events to encourage the Argies to start a war is ludicrous. Did she act like an opportunist and wrap herself in the flag, of course she did, she's a Tory. Did it help her win an election, of course, she's a Tory.

Did she start a war to win an election - don't be ridiculous that's not how things work.

As usual with Chesh he has a version of the facts, just not quite the right ones. You are making the mistake of accepting his lack of precision.

In my view - In their first years in office they were cutting everything and someone - way below PM in rank - decided the South Atlantic infrastructure could go to meet budgets. The Foreign Office were talking to the Argies about shared sovereignty. I can well believe the Argies thought this all meant we were a pushover, especially with a woman was in charge. Then when they invaded, first she HAD to fight or she would have been dead meat politically, as a Tory PM, and then of course she used the armed forces performance to help win the next election.

Chesh will think the above means I am agreeing he's right. That's because he's not very good at precise thinking. He's wrong, something vaguely similar to what he asserts happened, did happen, but just not what he says.

No, she didn't HAVE to at all. It was all about her career, not the people of the Falklands. Until the invasion, the Falklanders were 2nd class citizens who had no right of access to the UK. They had to apply for a visa to visit the UK. That's how much she cared for them. She spilled the blood of our military just to keep her in jackboots. Fcuking witch.
