Didn't say I was a Tory, I'm a pragmatist. - aka able to make my own decisions without reference to a political party telling me what to think

Thatcher was 100% right about the single market - Lancaster House speech 1988 look it up (actually don't, it has some big words in it)
Thatcher only ever told lies and crap, not surprised you fell for it.<doh> so you've always been politically confused then.

May better than Thatcher <laugh>,I think Adolf :emoticon-0147-emo: was better than Thatcher.

Unfortunately you see the world very simplistically.

I didn't support thatcher I voted for her. She was awful on many domestic policies, she was very clear sighted on macro economics and shaped the country's approach for the last 40 years. She had clear principles, like them or not. May is just as awful on domestic policy, but can't see the wood for the trees and has no clear vision. You would never have got Thatcher voting Remain then leading us out of the EU. May is a third rate lightweight who looks good because she has no opposition.

Thatcher was right on macroeconomic questions most of the time. I'd take her view on the single market any day over someone so unprincipled they supported Remain but now think hard Brexit is a great idea

Not much point in debating this with you further as you tend to want to reduce complex arguments to very simplistic terms. I hope you're right but everything I see tells me you're wrong

You're right that's total crap,Thatcher backstabed her way into power, and then caused a war to get re-elected,she fooked up the poll tax and never got 1 thing right ever, only people who voted for her was women who like to rule and blokes who do as there wives tell them what to do.
May does what the people want,Thatcher was a dictatorship.

Thank you for that interesting piece of in depth political analysis

Just one question - how did she cause the Falklands war exactly? Was she leading the Argentine assault on port Stanley in drag, perhaps?

She scrapped the boats, that were their to protect the Islands, leading Argentina to believe we weren't interested in the Islands and would do nothing to get them back. The military Junta confirmed this after the war.

My God she was clever, that woman

So she did all that deliberately to cause a war to get re-elected ?

I told you she was good

Not difficult to work out was it,there had been many problems previously, and she scraps the boats who have ejected the Argentines previously, don't need to be a rocket scientist,or maybe you do.

This has been an eye opener for me, hadn't realised all this. I thought the military government in Argentina atfacked the Falklands to deflect attention from their domestic problems. When all the time Thatcher had been conning them into doing so in order to win the next election. I really need to keep up to date and watch more conspiracy videos on Youtube

Yes you do,Argentina threatened to take them back, and maggie said well lets scrap the boats that protect them,it will save a few quid,we then spent 10-20 billion getting them back and 2000 dead, she was a micro economic wonder though.

Go back and appeal, you will probably win. That's the way it works.sure you already know that,if not see your local Tory MP they will sort it

Did win the appeal. What annoyed me was the total dishonesty of it all. The conclusions (i.e. lies) drawn from standing for 30 seconds. And the expense of having to go through it all again. Almost everyone wins their appeals (source: Citizens Advice Bureau), so why bother with the lies, upset, and cost of the additional admin? Anyone with emotional, confidence or learning difficulties are screwed & it wouldn't surprise me if there have been fatalities due to this system.

A true socialist is not defined by income or status. It's an attitude of mind, or in my case, an upbringing.

I do understand english & have the certificates to prove it. It's the way it's used (read murdered) by some people that I can't understand. :D

Put channel 4 on and watch any of the "....on benefits" programs. It will make your blood boil. They are all fat and well fed, they all have mobile phones, many are sitting playing console games they don't go to work yet their homes are filthy **** holes, pure lazy, that is what is wrong with most of them.

Agreed there are thousands deserving but whilst we have many more thousands milking and cheating the system it will be impossible to cure.
You do realise that the food generally eaten by the poor & the uneducated is both cheap & fattening? On benefits, you'd probably like to buy lean meat, but can only afford to buy sausages, for instance. And we all know how healthy they are! (love 'em myself ).

I'm not for a moment defending the undefendable, btw, but obesity is a recognised problem for those on benefits.

I'm surprised they don't keep their appetite down with all the ***s they are puffing on which are obviously brought on their benefit allowance ;)

My Brother in law has mental health problems, every time they asses him they fail him,he appeals and wins every time. Not a good system but seems to be the way it works.
Labour did bring the tests in 2008,so Jock voted for them in effect.
I'm hugely offended. I would never vote for Blue Labour. They're tories pretending to have a conscience.

For the record, I believe these tests have been in place for decades, and no government has ever found an adequate solution. Sadly, the tories have taken this system and injected oodles of evil into it.
