Jak kept us in the game, yet the immediate reaction was criticism and ridicule on his own threads, specially created for the purpose. It's just wrong, on every level. Especially when some of the main contributors have made frequent rants about getting behind the team. I didn't go out of my way to have a pop at you; you did with me. Tried to nail moderators to the wall really! I think PLT does more than his fair share of argumentative posting and it was only him I took it up with, so moderator, singular, is more accurate. OLM made his own considered decision to post at me. After my original posts I have simply responded to others, as I am now - as you say, it's a forum.
There was only one thread posted about Jakupovic after Saturday's game and it was about his showboating, rather than his ability as a keeper. As a consequence, I thought that merging into the 'Dodgy keeper' thread was inappropriate. I still think so.
Only very brief, but Mannone certainly knew how to turn defence into attack, I'm recalling his throwing rather than kicking.
I have to admit he is certainly a source of interest and almost warrants his own sticky. I have never seen such an erratic goalie. Fantastic shot stopping one minute and yet (whether some choose to play it down or not...wtf is a half mistake!!) error ridden. Looks like he will have a massive say on whether or not we STAY up.
^^This - what you see with him is exactly what you get, I think he's the most eccentric keeper I've seen since Budgie Burridge - I just hope between now and the end of the season he has more 'worldies' in him than 'flaps' at balls in the box.
There was one already in existence and being used and this one posted anew. Are you sure there is no reference to his ability as a keeper? Do you not think this was intended to incite more of the same? This was the point I made and you choose to ignore.
I absolutely do not think it was posted to incite more of the same. You've made your point, I disagree with it for the reasons I've given, but it's been done to death now, so let's move on.
I agree he is eccentric, he is a character. I don't believe error ridden, as he has been described, is either fair or reasonable, as it would lead folk to think he is a calamity, which he most definitely is not; or do his figures and pundit praise lie? What about the good things, his saves, the things that really have impact on the results, why not focus on those positives, if only a little bit? It's this biased negativity that boils my piss; especially, as it was, so very soon after a very important result.
Fez your more defensive than Steve Bruce FFS. I have acknowledged that he has been fantastic for a lot of the season. Recently he has become a mixed bag, and has been very lucky in the last few games that basic mistakes haven't cost us even more. Ridiculous that some are totally blind to this, we all love a character and somebody a bit different, not sure I want one in the middle of our goal! I am entitled to an opinion. But don't worry, I don't pick the team, Hi ho doesn't read this forum and I'm pretty sure the Jak doesn't either.
That's a terrible insult; no one's as defensive as Steve Bruce. Like I pointed out, very simply, the points you make are frequent and exaggerated. In my opinion, and that of quite a few others, on these boards and elsewhere, your criticisms take small things and make them something they are not. You also lack the balance of remarking on the good things he does. You are entitled to an opinion and you post it everywhere (noticed the jibe on another, totally disassociated thread - I ignored it, but you have addressed me directly here), just as I am entitled to respond without being told to move on. I think you would be surprised how social media comments get back to players.
I will say, my initial post was to get the views of something I was seeing. I spend 45 minutes every home game with him directly in front of me, his performances were getting more and more untidy. It's not the usual thread I start or even get involved in, I was going to post prior to the Leicester game, but thought it would get into a Marshall/ Jak thread. I had to after that performance and couldn't believe the desperate reactions, almost as if I'd committed blasphemy. I've carried on with a bit of harmless banter, but see some are getting upset by this. I take no pleasure from that, so aren't gonna comment on this thread until after the next game, I hope it's to comment on a better all round performance from Jak.
I have to say I'm surprised at the reaction you've had on here to be honest. I don't think anyone at the club should be exempt from criticism if somebody has a valid point to make on here. I agree that Jakupovic is becoming untidy (at the moment). I also agree Bruce is too defensive. I personally think Grosicki has no end product (at the moment) and think Elmohamady is a waste of a shirt for numerous reasons. I don't agree that Hernandez has attitude problems and I don't agree that Marshall was at fault for a lot of the goals we conceded. Unlike Charon-the-ferryman I think Alex Bruce was an excellent servant for the club and was a very underrated player. I also think Markovic has the ability to be a real game changer for us if he can just catch a bit of a break. I think he's incredibly skillful with the ball at his feet and could turn into a real gem if he finds a bit of clinical form quickly. People have different perspectives based on what they've seen and how they've interpreted what they've seen. I doubt more than a handful of people would agree with every one of my opinions above. This should be a place that allows for such discussion though, positive or negative, regardless of how soon after a victory it is posted.
