Not sure why kicking up such a big fuss about National Insurance increasing by small % for self employed. No reason they should be paying less than employed staff, and the increase over year that they'll pay is barely anything really.

I about £400 a year with another £400 to follow in 2019.

But the real reason it's being called out, is that it makes their manifesto pledge a lie

Sure it said average was about £240 a year but those earning less than £16k profit would be paying less than currently do?

I think less than £13k (really?) you'd be better off, around £17k and you'd be marginally worse of and about £50k £600 worse off

Generally agree but they don't get sick pay, paternity/maternity pay etc

Thats their own choice though. Why should they pay less NI and still get benefits like NHS that rest of us get when we pay more into it? Also they get better tax reliefs than employed staff as well
