Which begs an answer as to why they pay Wayne Rooney £15m a season?

Sir Ferguson wouldn't be having this.

He missed their game against Arsenal at Old Trafford because of suspension, having picked up five yellows.
They outplayed the Goons quite comfortably, who were lucky to rescue a draw late on with their only attempt on target.
They'll miss him against Chelsea, but they'll cope with the other games, in my opinion.

Does he get four games out, if this goes through, as he's already had a suspension?
I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

You're all welcome to come round to mine after work for a special vigil and prayer service to ask for a meteorite to hit the London Stadium at 20.05 this evening.

  7. Have only just seen the video of the Ibrahimovic / Mings incidents after hearing that the FA panel consider a 3-match ban for Mings 'clearly insufficient'.

Both deserve to be punished, but frankly, whilst Mings was clearly out of control, his look away and intent to get up make his specific actions appear more reckless than deliberate. Ibrahimovic on the other hand (or elbow) is clearly intentional.

But far be it from me to suggest any influence being applied....... <laugh>

The only "colosseum" event in history where the spectators fight eachother
to the death, rather than the athletes in the middle doing so.

So the three game suspension is clearly insufficient for Mings, just as it was for Dembele, despite neither harming a hair on the head of the other player, while a deliberate elbow which landed with considerable force just gets the three games. Actual spikes driven into Kyle Walker's face got no action. It's tempting to conclude that some players are more equal than others.

Calvin Andrew of Rochdale got a 9 game ban (reduced from 12 on appeal) for elbowing Oldham's Peter Clarke in October.

    The link shows the incident.
Clearly an assault - and it looks terrible because he pursues the player and deliberately elbows him to the face, but is it so much worse than what either Ibrahimovic or Mings did? All three appear premeditated and involved assaults to the head. What would determine that Ibrahimovic or Mings deserve a significantly lesser ban?

may i just add to that the "tactic" of when a player has jumped to head the ball opposition players deliberately bumping into their legs to "tip" them. This is incredibly dangerous and one day will lead to a very serious incident.

  13. Nasty indeed - but not 6 games worse....... but to answer the question, probably the fact that they don't play in League 1 I would suggest.....

It's the football version of the 'spear tackle' and is extremely dangerous. Michael Dawson was on the receiving end of such an injury. He was airborne in an international game when a forward purposefully backed into him, tipping him forwards as he fell. He was out for months but some day a player is going to break his neck. I think that referees need to go back to school to recap what is dangerous foul play and deserving of being immediately removed from the field of play.

I saw this on Youtube. Just before Mings stamps on Ibrahimovic, who is that obviously aiming a stamp at Mings [0.17] and missing? How many red cards did his performance deserve? I'm at 3 so far.

Rugby have for years led the way on this with penalties for taking out people in the air.
I don't remember the Dawson incident but it sounds exactly like the "tactic" i was referring to. As you say the neck break or other spinal damage or brain truma are the obvious worries from this sort of behaviour and for some reason seems not to worry the football authorities.

PS the Ibra attempt at a stamp looks just as deliberate as Mings but hey just be grateful they are looking at the elbow <whistle>

Allegedly, Pogba tried to stamp on Mings later, however, despite scouring footage nobody's been able to spot him.
