'Supposedly' been linked with a couple of new strikers this week, want I'd like to know is who the fans would prefer to see.

For me its Jay-Rod... this is because Maynard would demand higher wages (lots of transfer speculation of late, possible primadonna?) and Ebanks-Blake would want to be the 'key figure' or first name on the team sheet type player.

We wouldn't want another Puncheon situation on the cards so I think a young hungry Jay-Rod would suit us down to the ground.

Couldn't predict and don't want to. I don't honestly know what any of them brings, apart from experience at Championship or higher levels. I don't want anyone who would upset the tight unit that Saints have at present. Anyway, Connolly is better than all of them.

What we do lack up top is genuine pace.

Would be happy with any of them tbh, but I went for other as I think we should also be having a look at Marvin Sordell of Watford, has looked very good in the few times I've seen him play.

I agree, I think this season could be his to set alight now Danny Graham has gone. Out of the list above, I voted Nicky Maynard, he would work brilliantly playing off Lambert.

Don't really understand the Jay Rod excitement I'm sure he's fine, but if the quoted £5m is right I'd rather it was spent on Maynard who is a much more proven player and only 2 years his senior. "He's young and quick" doesn't really cut it, there's a long list of players who showed talent at around 20 and never really moved on from there.

Spot on. We missed Papa Waigo last season, we need someone like him who can terrify defenders when fast balls are played in behind them.

At the same time though, it was quite nice to have strikers last season who knew the off-side rule.

Good point, but he was often unlucky to get flagged, as he was too quick for the linesman to see whether he was genuinely off or not. Maybe in the Championship with "better" linos Waigo would come into his own?

The others are good but too pricey. I wouldn't want to pay above the odds though...definitely not the £5-6m being talked about for Maynard...

Apparently Maynard is injured for the next couple of months?

I haven't really seen enough of either of them (Jay-Rod or Maynard) to make a definate decision either way. I'm seen both of them yes, but enough of them. I'm torn. Purely going on stats though, Maynard wins hands-down. He pretty much averages a goal every other game in his career.

I tempted to say that I'll be happy with whoever is the cheaper (both in terms of transfer fee, and wage demands).

How long was he out last season? Because i remember him scoring quite a few goals when he came back.

Was out for the majority of the season, his injury conincided with Bristol City's awful form and slipping to the foot of the table, then when he came back they started moving up the table again (with help from his goals). So just shows how highly he is valued there, hence the £5 mil + asking price

I'd be happy with either Maynard or Jay-Rod and would also love to see us give Sordell a look as someone mentioned earlier. Watford have as good an academy set up as us and West ham, if not better.

Not important but assistant refs are taken from the National List which is a pool all of the football league linos, so they are still the same ones...sorry.

    LEE BARNARD <doh>

Pretty quick and always gets stuck in!

What's with the need for a new striker?

I reckon people have only voted higher on Rodriguez coz of his four goals against average/low opposition on Tuesday <doh>
