He said genuine pace, something which Lee Barnard doesn't have, he's a decent finisher and you says get's stuck in, but he won't be a premier league player IMO.
Maynard definatley - stylish player with goals. Not keen on Ebanks Blake, Maynard and perhaps Jay Rodriguez could be premiership quality
I think we need to think who is the best fit for the team. I think Maynard is the best fit alongside Lambert. But that said he is no way worth £5m+, so SEB is the next best fit and his fee seems more appropriate
Lee Barnard... pace? You are very narrow minded by thinking people are interested in him for his 4 goals in mid-week. We were linked with him in the press over a week ago. Rodriguez is very promising and still to reach full potential, put in some eye catching performances when Burnley got far in the carling cup a couple of seasons ago, including the match where they knocked out Arsenal. Barnard is a good player and a valuable asset to the side, but it is unknown whether he can regularly perform at championship level and also in the premiership, when we hopefully get there - something Rodriguez is more likely to make the step up to.
tweet from fourth official Southampton are progressing on a move to bring Jay Rodriguez to the club, Nicky Maynard is also a target, they want both players #Saintsfc
If that happens then I will cry with happiness. Can't believe how ridiculous it is to be a Saints fan at the moment
Yeah I guess £5 million is a massive offer but no one knows if we have actually bid that - except Saints themselves of course. All this speculation is great but as Adkins says let's just wait and see.
If rumours on prices are to be believed thats £9M for both, I'm happy with that. Considering the money from Chamberlain deal, you would swap Rodriguez, Maynard and Fox for Chamberlain and some pocket money all day long.
Definitely, I remember when the rumours first surface about Chamberlain's exit, many Saints fans stated that they'd happily swap him for one/two top Championship players and here we are with the potential purchase of THREE with change left over!
Don't think it's just Saints but I know he said about the Danny Fox deal before it was announced, and more recently the Enrique move to Liverpool
I don't think that tweet was from Fourth Official, I found exactly that on this bloke's Twitter account http://twitter.com/#!/maverick99sback
Adkins will need to demonstrate great man management skills to keep this lot happy if it happens. More likely we're trying to sign one and the other is back up (but doesn't know it!).
It's called a Retweet, it's repeating what was posted on another account. Fourth_Official said it originally
