Scapegoating players

Last few weeks on here I've seen 'Hobbs is ****' 'Mckenna is ****', last year it was Aaron Mclean, and especially Harper. Just wondering how a fan of a team can slate their own players like this, I find it a little bit sad and pathetic. They are our players and it's our team, they might not all be worldbeaters but grow the **** up, maybe slag other teams players off, no wonder the players are nervous at home playing in front of knuckleheads who have nothing constructive to say apart from somebody is ****. Morons! Rant over.
 
I wouldn't mind criticism of players if it was accurate, but Hobbs, McKenna and Adebola have been scapegoated simply because we lost games and they were the easiest targets.
 
I agree Thomsen. Whilst everyone should be entitled to their opinion on players criticism should be given constructively. These blokes are playing for the team we love, unless they're on the pitch not giving a damn about the club then we should stand by them, praise them when they play well but criticise and support them when they aren't at their best. It's happened in the past with the likes of Turner, Delaney, Cort, Ashbee, Lewis, Garcia and players like Turner really going out and proving people wrong. I think everyone is a bit disappointed with the start we've had, but most of the team have being underperforming so it's unfair to be pointing fingers. Instead of calling players ****e and the like, try and support the lads while they are wearing the shirt.

Totally agree too. Someone called Adebola a 'disaster' the other day. I accept these lads are happy to take the glory when it comes their way and so should be able to put up with a bit of stick when things are going badly, but after half a game?
 
I agree and disagree on this topic.

I agree in the sense it is far to early to judge the player of this season, and that the criticism the players that have being mentioned have only being criticised because we lost and that is wrong. Especially with Mckenna and Hobbs not really doing anything wrong, maybe nothing right, but thats not their jobs.

However on last season, Harper was awful, i am not having a go at him personally as he was trying i agree. But he was poor. But this season start a fresh and i will not criticise what he has done this season. But in my personal opinion last year he was poor for us and didn't put in the performance i had expected.
 
I've been to four games this season Liverpool, Chesterfild, Blackpool and Macclesfield. I've listened to some complete ars e holes sat around us. The best of it is I've sat in the west stand upper (Liverpool) usual seats against Blackpool (E4 only place fans realistic so far) Away Chesterfield proper thick chavs sat behind us and then at Macclesfield sat in E1, ****ing brain diners sat a few rows back so we moved to South stand and some clown whose last game was wembly when Deano beat Burnley ???? I ask you. These big mouths don't know **** all yet there very vocal presence actuall affects those around them. They arnt proper fans just big gobs who need to shut it or **** off. End of rant, at least back in the 80's everyone was realistic and got behind the players, I can't remember scapegoating players although we had a few who would have been publicly lynched by today's standards.

Sad thing is When I saw 4000 at Tuesdays game I thought at least these will be die Hards, nope there were bandwagon fans and those out for a cheap ticket!

End of rant!

My dad used to say, if you can't say something nice about someone then say nothing! This ought to be our mantra this season.

Speaking to a Plymouth fan the other day who couldn't sing his praises enough and felt when back will be a key player for them.....

God knows what game he was watching, one of the worst footballers i have seen play for us. (Probably a tad harsh)
 
at the end of the day if we lose the other team scored more than us, whether we
played the better/worse or just as good we lost. forget about it us useless tools
aren't playing and when you all say you could of done a better job and I do this myself we can't. fairplay the ****s are on lots of money and shouldn't get that but were no better.
there deemed as pro's we aren't
na night rant over.
 
Why cant we give our opinions on players . We pay , we have opinions , we let them be known. Just that some people get their comments wrong, like saying after two games, this and that. when they cant read.

I actually think with Coles it was just a massive bandwagon everyone saw him as an easy target, he was never that awful bar that 6-2 defeat to Ipswich. After no matter whose fault it was for a goal if Coles was playing it was his fault.
 
If you're against criticising players then what the hell are you coming on messageboards for? That's practically the whole point in them. As I said in another thread, the players don't read these so I don't see what harm it does.

Of course, the best way for players to avoid criticism would be for them to play well, but as they seem to be doing anything but at the moment then they should expect to be criticised.
