People can underestimate us if they want. We may not have made any "marquee" signings but I think Adkins has been quite shrewd. Jack Cork is one of the best central midfielders in the division, Steve De Ridder so far looks like a brilliant piece of business and a more than adequate replacement for Chamberlain. Now, Danny Fox was the best left back in the division a few seasons back and looks to be another quality addition. We also have great team spirit, momentum and a team that has gelled together - something money can't buy.
I hope this Maynard "battle" doesn't turn into a slanging match between Leicester, Southampton and Brizzle fans. Got nothing against Southampton and didn't know about your ambitions so fair play. With the players we've signed and the squad that we have assembled, many of them being Prem quality, internationals and top Championship players, and with the Sven factor i'd say we'd edge it and i'm sure we could offer a more lucrative deal to the lad and whilst living close to the sea maybe an attractive proposition, every trip to an away game takes forever and would seriously get on my tits!! There is no guarantee that we'll get promoted but we seem to have already gelled, a lot of the players already know each like Johnson, Schmeichel, Ball and Fernandes from Man City, Nugent, Danns, St Ledger and Gallagher all know each other too so there aren't too many "strangers" in the team and they also spent two weeks on tour together so there is definitely an excellent team spirit, you only have to look at the goal celebration below to see that!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcEzXyqa9FA Good luck for the season anyway, it will be tough this season as the quality of the league is very high!! Do you really think you can push for the play-offs?
Andy Kings Crown Jewels - just pop over to th Leeds Forum and ask them. The week before we played them they came on here and said we had one of, if not the best coach outside the Prem. Now lewd fans are not renown for their love of other teams, so ask them why they said that.
Wikipedia makes me laugh - "On 11th August 2011 he signed for Southampton in a 5 year deal worth £4.2 million." Is already on there xD
if maynard were to leave bristol city, he would want to go to the club highest in the league, now who might that be
how can you bet each way to win the league, surely its only a win bet, did the bet cost 10 or 20 pounds?
£20. I never understood each way betting though! A friend tried explaining it to me though... All I know is my returns are potentially £220, compared to £170 with a win bet.
I see bits and pieces here and there about Nicky Maynard not being a 20 goal a year player. Aside from the fact that I really don't think we need to worry about getting a 20 goal a year striker as we have bags of goals in the rest of our team, if you look at his career numbers then he really seems to be a player with the potential to be regularly getting around 20 goals a year. His years at Crewe were extremely impressive, in a side that narrowly beat the drop he hit about a 0.5 goal to game ratio over both years. 08-09, first year at Brizzle, he made 42 appearances but a lot were subs, and he didn't really get going until around Christmas and into the new year, before hitting 11 for the season. 09-10, he hit 20 in 42, including a bunch of great strikes. 10-11 he missed a large part with a knee injury, still went 6 in 13 in the league so (although we can't say for certain he would have done so) it's pretty likely he would have continued at least at this rate, maybe even higher and got to 20 in a full year. In our side, I'm really confident he'll be able to reach 15-20 in a full year, this needs to be our guy, rather than the other strikers we've been linked with, similar to the signing of Lambert, it would be a real statement of intent.
its been changed again, and apparently he plays for a team called 'the Nicky Maynard experience' which he formed after getting high on cough medicine
So tell me....what has he done to justify a £4m+ price tag......Bristol City's shining light since he joined?? Have I missed something or have Bristol City set the championship alight recently???
Well, been one of the best and most sought after players in the league is one thing he's done to justify it. You've got a point though, I mean, Le Tiss was clearly worthless because we weren't setting the league alight :S
An each way bet is effectively two seperate bets. One to WIN One to be PLACED If your team win, you are successful on both counts. If your team fail to win, but are placed ( top 3 / 4, defending on bookmakers stipulations ), you lose the win bet, but collect on the place bet ( usually around 1/4 the win odds ) Hope that helps.
Yeah this is it. So basically if I wanted to put money on say, Southampton to win the league at 12/1 but wasn't too sure, I'd put an each way bet on. So I'd have a look at my bookie - WillHill is my personal choice - they offer 1/3 odds for second and third place. So if I put £10 on, my bet would be £5 Southampton to win at 12/1, £5 Southampton to come 1st, 2nd or 3rd at 4/1. Thus if Southampton won the league, I'd win £65 from my original bet and £25 from my each way bet, £90 overall, less than the £130 I'd get from winning a 12/1 bet. But the value of each way is in the insurance offer - if we don't win the league but come second or third. Then, the outright winner £5 would be useless, but the each way £5, at 4/1, would (if we finished 2nd or 3rd) win me back £25 - a profit of £15.
New tweet from fourth official Southampton are close to putting a bid on the table for Nicky Maynard, the only club currently still in for the striker #Saintsfc 9 minutes ago
