Alonso and Mascherano different.

Mascherano was a true defensive midfielder. He was the epitome of defensive midfielding. Never knew a better tackler of the ball, or anyone who could break play better.

If I'm playing a true defensive midfielder it's Mash.

Alonso is a better all round midfielder. He's great deep but can also contribute to creating chances.

I think GK (Reina's latter years), LB, DM (latter months) & CM stand out as weak spots that we've failed to address

Hmmm

1. flanno no. that just shows how **** it is. he wasn't even bloody any good! Baed on pens alone it;d be milner
2. Masch? ermmmmm he was sold in the summer transfer window and played ONE game under Woy. so no. the reality is gerrard since rafa would be in that DM slot sadly.. that bad.
3. I'd just add lallana to it and go this way (and this is entirely based on 19 games in 2016!!!

The fact is this just points to how poor our transfer policy has been in large part but there you go. mane unlucky that sturridge scrapes in on the strength of one season.
