On that basis why would players come here when we are favourites to go down and only have a manager on a 6 month contract, and might even change ownership?

It makes more sense to keep players for the fight for survival while under a long enough contract. and while they are still playing well for us.
Stuff what the bookies say, you tell me why we are favourites to go down! I'd say the 2 teams below us who have less points are more likely and the team that are 4th bottom with the same points as us are just as likely as us. Players will look at us and think, they have some decent players and a decent manager and are one win off getting out of relegation. We ain't that bad a prospect

Everybody always says this like it's a defining marker of his quality, if he was that good he'd have kept the other 19 team's centre halves in his pocket as well. He gave a 100%, but so he should, he's a professional footballer. It was just unfortunate that his 100% was about 50% of Davies, Dawson and Maguire

I missed this reply earlier.

Yes money and player costs in the league have risen considerably but Jake is now a fair bit older and never really kicked on and improved a lot since he arrived. Part of the premium we paid was for his youthful(ish) potential, now we know he's peaked more or less.

He's 27 and coming into his prime. That makes him 13 months older than £20m rated Championship midfielder Tom Cairney. He's also the same age as Schneiderlin. If he was in his early thirties, then yes price may well come down.

Given he's produced some of his most consistent football for the club in Midfield and defence - £10m is the club selling it's self well short versus other fees clubs are commanding for their players.

Have a look at his stats in the link above and tell me we won't miss him.

**Edit** You'll struggle to buy a replacement that brings as much to the team as Livermore for £10m.

The thing with Cairney is that he's rated at 20m by who? Fulham that's who. I don't see any other club agreeing and buying him. So is he really worth that...the market will tell. My guess is no.

cant see Joao Teixeira coming here, he has only been at porto 1 season, although he has been on loan at some chumpionship clubs, think Brighton was 1, if memory serves. cant remember just how well he did though.
He might fancy a spell in EPL.

I'm sure with what he has already achieved in his short managerial career he ain't worried that people think he is ****ed,i think he knows what he is doing and what he needs to keep us up.

I think we will have a more exciting attacking team a renewed belief.many players go to lower league clubs to progress on loan it does not mean they are crap they are just gaining experience,we had jak in reserves but as it turns out it worked wonders for him now silva gives him a chance and he is playing well.

I know somebody on here has that signature about talking in extremes but - ruddy Nora - does this board take it literally...

Jake is an ok player and £10m is a fair price, nothing more nothing less. We haven't robbed WBA blind nor have they got a steal and the sky is about to fall in.

Alex is an ok squad player, nothing more nothing less. You know what you get from him, he'll never sulk or hide nor will he set the league alight. Giving him a contract was not a disgrace nor was it a brilliant piece of business. It was just ok.

There are shades of grey in football, not everything is black and white*.
