Unfortunately mate it was a fairly sizeable minority, which what disappointed me so much.

I then nearly had a fight with someone who called me a **** when I joined in singing 'JFT96'. He also said some other pretty unsavoury stuff which I've decided I'm not going to post here. Not a violent person, but trust me when I say that guy needs a ****ing slap.

Not going to keep going on about it, but hearing that from a fairly decent amount of people was a real sour note.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you start singing a Liverpool song? I'm not defending the man's actions but did you not think "I'm surrounded by morons here, I better not antagonise".

Back home - great to see everyone if very very briefly at the Farmhouse! Sorry we weren't able to chat more, but missed the first five picking up tickets from the box office.

Very good performance which was nearly a great result. Can't help but feel it was a real shame not to have got the two or three we deserved, but hey, it's a game to savour even so.

Regarding the atmosphere - our tickets were in the Itchen and my God it was flat as a pancake there, particularly first half. Not sure where the mics were placed for you to hear singing on the tv but they sure as hell weren't near us! I was also surrounded by Liverpool fans - one to my left, two on my right and three behind me! Made it all the more satisfying though.

Romeu my motm - a real tigerish performance of controlled and effective aggression. Thought Jordy did a great job too.

Remind me which team was 'gegenpressing'?

Thought they were very, very poor tonight.

Thanks Helen for being a star and enabling me to get a ticket for my mate too!
Hang on, did I sell my Saints soul to a Liverpool fan? You didn't tell me that!! :p

Because I thought the singing of the victim song was a ****ing disgrace and was hopeful of other saints joining in ( a fair few did) to show the Pool fans we're not all simple minded idiots <ok>

Some things are more important than football mate... and there's things all fans should stick together on <ok>

Don't mind you asking but why shouldn't I?

In my ignorance I had to look the victims song up, I found http://strettynews.com/explanation-its-never-their-fault/
Not a Saintly thing for our fans to be doing, I wonder who started it last night?

United fans have sang it for a lot longer than the Suarez incident I believe... it got more common after that though.

It started in Itchen North... loud enough for me to hear clearly in block 42 before the Pool fans started booing them. Then people in the Northam joined in, it was fairly loud... though not sure if it would have been heard in other parts of ground. I'd estimate there was at LEAST a couple of hundred singing it in the Northam alone.

It had no impact in the Library end (Kingsland South and Chapel).

Up to you what you do. I just wouldn't want to be in an area where there is a chance of people fighting due to singing. One lot being morons, they're being morons - leave them to it or report it to a steward. Singing a pro Liverpool song in their eyes will rub them up the wrong way. The last thing I would want is Saints fighting amongst themselves close by. Especially in a stadium with children, seating and stairs.

Edit: I see you were sat close to Itchen North. That explains it, I avoid that area of the ground like the plague these days. Same goes for Northam. I rarely enjoy a game at the ground these days, due to the minority.

That doesn't suprise me... it was drowned by boos fairly quickly. Was suprised that no only one other person has mentioned it though I must admit.

Just got back. I thought it was a great performance tonight. Really good to see us put the boot in. Clasie, Davis and the main man Romeu all excellent in the middle.

The downer for me was silencing the Liverpool fans, only for a bunch of absolute idiots to start singing Hillsborough songs. Brought them back to life. Ashamed to share a club witht them.

Where were you sat?

What has Redmond got to do to get a break from Saints fans? That was one of his best performances yet in a Saints shirt. And he went very close to making it 2 with a sublime chip over Karius at the end.

I thought Tadic was far better than he has been recently as well, linking up in some great counters on both sides of the pitch.

Just shows we all watch the same game and see something different.
Quite simple: stop being so wasteful with goal scoring opportunities and improve his final delivery.

I was in block 42 mate. And personally, I don't give a **** about rubbing people up the wrong way. I'll do what I feel is right regardless, and I was justified imo as a fair few Saints fans joined in with me.

You say a 'pro Liverpool song', doesn't really explain it does it? I mean, it's not the same as singing YNWA or Fields of Anfield road etc.

The guy I spoke about earlier wasn't there second half. So reckon he got nicked/chucked out.

I was in block 40 and heard JFT96 from the away fans for a couple of minutes but absolutely nothing unsavoury.

Fair enough, but look at it this way. If a fight breaks out, people fall over seating and a kid gets hurt. The police won't care who started it, whoever was fighting would be punished.

A pro Liverpool song, being a Liverpool song. Just not a song that is sang in St Mary's often.

It was immediately before that.

'Always the victim, it's never your fault'

After several viewings of the highlights, the chip over Karius after the cross from Long is actually the worst miss of all. Karius came at him with both feet off the ground, all Redmond had to do was sidefoot the ball along the ground under him. Easy to say in hindsight I know, but part of being a successful striker is instinctively knowing your best option, and Nathan needs to practice the split-second decision-making.

That's something that will (hopefully) come with age though.

Thought he put in a good defensive shift last night too.
