Just done an Aldi shop on the way home from work. New one just opened in Holmes Chapel, it was ok. Cheap booze, crisps & pickles.

Can't believe I'm in 'til the death (should that be birth & death at Easter) this year. Final round of cakes delivered tomorrow. She's been on the cup cakes & chocolate cakes today. House smelt ducking* lovely when I walked in.

EDIT: *Obviously meant to be "****ing" & is a simple typo/ autocorrect. I haven't been sampling the booze on the drive home.

You go in now but I seem to remember you led the protests about it opening up!! Nimbyism at its worst.
Daughter and her hubby are doing all the cooking for us this year, we're having a prawn cocktail starter apparently.
very 70's wonder what your daughter has told him about you?

I'm gonna request a prawn cocktail for this year, not had one for years but I fancy one now. Last year it was Potted Crab with her "Nan's" Soda Bread. Pissed her off a little when I asked if it'd be ok 'cos her Nan died in 2003. I found it strange that she got more annoyed when I described it as pate on toast.

I'd love one of ours, or all the ****ers, to cook for us one year. Eldest has invited us round on New Year's Day, that'll just turn into a "who can get over the limit first" race between me & the Mrs.

Yorkshire pudding with your Christmas dinner yes or no?
Absolutely, yes. We've decided to do a standing rib roast this year, instead of a traditional turkey. Therefore, Yorkshire pud and my world-class roasties (see earlier in this thread) are obligatory, as are roasted Brussels sprouts.
For the puds, I've found that EVOO works best (smoking hot), and whole milk and a little Kosher salt are essential in the mix. Don't bother refrigerating the mix overnight; an hour at room temperature after a brisk whisk works just fine. Individual puds in a muffin tin are better than a big one in a pie tin.

It's ok in Holmes Chapel, that's next town along, they're primitive. Middlewich, next town the other way have a Lidl, they're scary folk. I'm happy with our Waitrose* but do reserve the right to exploit the cheap alcohol sales.

Think it was Poynton kicking up a fuss over theirs opening as it was "too common" for them.

have a giant one, put turkey, mash, stuffing and anything else in it, smoother it in gravy.
then scran the lot.
yummy
I call it Yorshire pie and it's always the thing I eat last. It's the the most wonderful thing in the entire universe and you've just massively gone up in my estimation.

Lads, can Patty join the clique? I want Patty in the clique.

More posts like that & I think there's more chance of you being de-cliqued.

Pattie in the clique? Whatever next?
