But the options simply opened it up to people to abuse the leave vote for those bad reasons. Really we should have had more foresight and seen what was coming, as should the politicians. Got an issue with the coloureds? Vote leave. Got an issue with that bloke with the funny accent and the surname with all the Zs and Is who makes you seethe but you can't quite work out why? Vote leave. Got a fictionalised nostalgia tinted version of what this country used to be like in your head? Vote leave. Don't realise that this vote is about none of those things but about our relationship with an economic and political entity, statistics, finances, business and so on? Vote leave. And then plenty probably misinterpreted it as if we vote leave the country will suddenly and magically be cleansed of every foreigner.
Yep.

Here's a snaphot that sums up the kind of delusion, idiocy and good old fashioned racism, that was behind the bone head vote. (have a sick bag ready)

Mate I saw that on the day the result came out (I think), it's laughable, and I did laugh, except it's not so it was more out of hopelessness and feeling completely helpless as the tide of 'popular' proper English, proper hard-working hand spitting British opinion began to consume us, because, well, people actually think and believe this hateful, ignorant filth and can't accept the fact that it's now the 21st Century, yeah 2016 folks and no longer 1976, the year has moved forward, but time apparently hasn't followed suit

Yes, my eldest sister. Posted about her further up the thread. My nephew is engaged to a Polish girl too. Like those humbugs from Boston on the news now, she has 'Absolutely nothing against the Poles - there's just too many of them'.

Pah.

Some of my best friends are black but...

Yeah referred to him earlier in the thread. Unbefuckinglievable.

And this ****:

I desperately hope, even as a Labour Party member, that unemployed Out Louts like this have their benefits stopped if they won't do the jobs the leaving Eastern Europeans were doing in agriculture and cleaning. Give the ****er a mop.

Fact is many of those who voted leave didn't want to engage with the actual subject of the referendum, the complicated political and economic stuff about the UK's relationship with a political thing, the EU, and hijacked it by voting for personal ideals and beliefs to demonstrate what they think about Europe and people from and in Europe, not political, economic things but fellow human beings. That is unforgivable

It's simply what happens when you give a complex multi faceted decision like this to boneheads like the ones highlighted, who are as thick as ****.

They break it down to an X factor level of complexity - I don't like them Romanians, shifty as **** - that'll do - decision made - Leave.

Again, I've got to tell you of the work colleague who brought up Rotherham and Rochdale after I'd demolished the £350m a week. And when I pointed out that Boris and IDS had been trying to appeal to the Asian vote by saying that if EU migration fell there could be MORE non EU immigration he said 'Good, that's Aussies and New Zealanders - not P@kis - they're not in the Commonwealth'. He's half-Maltese, btw, and not once did he ever see the irony in that.

Are the police banging these ****witts up? I see plenty of hand-wringing and astonishment in the pages of the Mail at the beast they've unleashed, but words are nothing. Jail the bastards.

And Patel talking about the flow of migrants being too high...<doh>

They got arrested. They should get jail time, or young offenders time. Don't know if they will. If it wasn't so fascistic I'd suggest reproductive sterilisation as well

As I said I never look at the Mail. I'm surprised that they've suddenly gone all pious over anti immigration excesses, seeing as they've been one of main legitimising forces behind it for years.
It's naive to think you can make a group an object of fear and mistrust, then feign surprise when others go too far down a road you've set them on.

Lol Saint...we don't really have the Labour party in NI..they basically refused to be here so they didn't compete with the SDLP who take the Labour whip ..I think they've lifted that block but haven't fielded any candidates in elections.

NI unions do make contributions to the Labour party though.

I was just wondering what any existing members think of this impasse between Corbyn and his support bloc in the party with the majority of the PLP?

The country needs a strong opposition at the moment and unless the party splits that's not going to happen with Corbyn remaining as leader.

On the other hand there does seem to be an issue with the PLP and a clear divorce from traditional labour voters, particularly in the North of England and Scotland.

I wasn't sure if this was because of the dislike of career politicians no longer seen to represent them or as a reaction to the general party going to the left with Corbyn.

Is there now a 3 way split in Labour: The PLP, The far left activists and the traditional voters?

Should the PLP go to the left or Should the ground activist accept that the Labour party should be a centre left party? And does either version stand a chance of gaining back voters that seemed to be shifting towards UKIP or at least more right than left?

There is a chance of pressing the reset of the party in the coming months...even the possibility of campaigning in the next election on a reverse Brexit. But how to do this without making the divorce from traditional voters permanent?

Nigel Farage and his followers are modern day Ku Klux Klan, if they have their
way and come to power they are going to team up with Donald Trump if he
becomes the president of America.

frankly i am not a member, don't agree with "the working man" attitude and think socialist policies should be for all. I would not vote labour currently and the lib dems are the only party declared for remain.

ergo. if corbyn wants to continue this and the fools don't burn the high sparrow they get what they deserve.

Don't read the mail myself but i do know they post a lot of ****. However if they are deploring racism surely that is a good thing?

With respect to the racism going on, it is horrible and theres no place for that and i wouldn't be against these sorts people going to jail (I haven't seen the vids but i can imagine how it goes).
