The UK has been handed a death sentence. The last few days were just the sick feeling in the stomach. We will then feel "stable" until the sentence is carried out in 2 months. With the economic costs there's no way UK funding can be maintained at EU levels. I suggest that places like Scotland and Liverpool which were strongly Remain should have preferential access to funding from the government. Those who most strongly voted Leave can pay the cost. **** you Cornwall say goodbye to your £2.5 billion.
I partly blame the remain campaign for this. A lot of towns in the valleys voted leave, and are now being told that they got millions of pounds of funding directly from the EU. I don't think any of them actually realised this and should have been told! Now they're going to turn into even bigger dumps because they don't much cash from anywhere else.
wrong wrong and wrong. they can't afford to make it EASY thats all. they can easily afford to send us packing and take our moeny for market access. many will be delighted actually. The REALITY is theres 19 states in the single currency with 6 move on a path to enter... its too late to end it... it needs reform yes but it won't be stopped... it would be a great depression not a recession to untangle it. TheUK taking its toys and walking when it was always half in and half out due to not joinging currency is a... are you mad... ok **** off and we'll take the london stock exchange while you have wales and the pits. Farage was his usual self... you prob missed after is little tirade him being told they were surprised he turned up as he was looking for an exit so there is one..
we can only hope the recession we are now in isn't a deep one. thats all. the stocks will be the stocks. i'm watching for the long term numbers now.
This is true, Remain were poor in this instance. However, the onus is also on the electorate to do its own research if it's going to vote on such a major issue. EU funding in Wales was hardly a big secret. This comes back to my belief that referenda are just a plain bad idea. Too few people have any real clue about the causes and effects of their decision.
I still maintain people have to generally realise that the question asked is what you vote on.. nobody voted on giving tories a kick. nobody voted for reform. they might think they did but the question on the ballot paper was not "want rid of cameron" or "lets reform EU" it was very clear. you you want to leave or remain in EU. People who ticked leave for bad reasons are fools. People who felt lied to now.. ok fine you feel that way but to were listening to farage and johnson... just think baout that for a few moments.. you believed a single word out of either... more fool you.
What the **** was Farage even doing still in the European parliament yesterday? Well, gloating for sure, of course. But he got what he wanted so he should just ****ing stay in Britain, unfortunately for the rest of us who have to have him here, but at least it would be damage limitation in terms of the further national embarrassment he can inflict on us, y'know, we can contain it to within these shores Did anybody have a family member who voted the other way to themselves? Everyone else in the fam was remain, but I had to endure their bile filled reasoning actually supporting that **** after he gave that speech. Nearly ****ing lost it and was at the point of physical assault tbh, feel sick to be related to the person
My auld fella voted out, the flag waving Tory bigot. I told him he was a **** obviously, we don't generally talk politics and haven't since the 80's - when there was an unfortunate incident the wrong side of a few beers...
But the options simply opened it up to people to abuse the leave vote for those bad reasons. Really we should have had more foresight and seen what was coming, as should the politicians. Got an issue with the coloureds? Vote leave. Got an issue with that bloke with the funny accent and the surname with all the Zs and Is who makes you seethe but you can't quite work out why? Vote leave. Got a fictionalised nostalgia tinted version of what this country used to be like in your head? Vote leave. Don't realise that this vote is about none of those things but about our relationship with an economic and political entity, statistics, finances, business and so on? Vote leave. And then plenty probably misinterpreted it as if we vote leave the country will suddenly and magically be cleansed of every foreigner.
He's obnoxious. A better dressed, more articulate version of the racist thugs that follow our team around calling themselves fans. A lager lout in a suit. I deeply resent having this man represent me on an international stage.
Yes, my eldest sister. Posted about her further up the thread. My nephew is engaged to a Polish girl too. Like those humbugs from Boston on the news now, she has 'Absolutely nothing against the Poles - there's just too many of them'. Pah.
The depth of the recession will depend on the choice they choose to make re: the negotiations. If they dig their heels in over free movement, then it could take up to 7 years to resolve according to some EU experts. In which case we'll be in for a long haul, as our future as a haven for investment from aboard is virtually completely reliant on our access to the free market. Rule Britannia
My dear old mother here. She's a ****ing right wing **** as well mate, hate to say it about my own frickin mother but it's the truth. Hasn't been outside the town she lives in over a decade, nevermind left the country. Actually no she's been to Ireland about 5 years ago-ish. Not to any of continental Europe though. And sadly she gets a vote on this. Unfortunately it did come up. I try to avoid it when I see the 'rents, but she goes have you seen the referendum result, gloating like Farage probably. Sad ****ing woman
How many times have you heard "I'm not a racist, but" in the last week or so. It appears that since Thursday the racist underbelly of this country (which is far far bigger than I ever imagined) has deemed it acceptable to stop hiding their bigotry and racist views. I appears it's now OK to be openly racist post this vote.
I have always said that we needed to have a modicum of truthfulness from our politicians. They didn't need to support any opposite facts from the other side but they shouldn't attack facts or very convincing independent viewpoints as scaremongering. I have no doubt that many people voted for Leave based on blatant lies about the economy from the Leave camp.
