I know you understand it, I didn't mean to sound patronising. It's amazing how many people seem to accept that bookies somehow have greater knowledge though.i do undertsand that. They are obviously not clairvoyant. In the same way as they cannot predict the FA cup final but they can work out who the favourites are at any point in time.
They must surely take into account as well as the betting patterns the movement of public opinion and the likely outcome. The gambling public the same and will be betting on the proability of the outcome and the rewards.
I know you understand it, I didn't mean to sound patronising. It's amazing how many people seem to accept that bookies somehow have greater knowledge though.
But it's just maths. They can work out who the favourites are, of course, that's why they then shorten the odds.
We can all tell when the likelihood of something is increasing, but even if the bookies felt something was a dead cert, if the maths somehow told them they'd make more money by going against it, then they would- because that's why they're in it, innit?
I hope so too.A tenner gone on Brexit. Hope to lose it!!!

It'll be the best tenner you've ever lost, imo.
I lost a tenner once. We had to cancel the whole opera
Top Gear: Matt LeBlanc’s Brexit Joke Might Strengthen Show’s Chances Of Survival

It would be funny if it were actually funny.doubt it.... there were only 4 viewers at the time i hear...

Thing is, like many of us I was brought up amongst people more effortlessly funny and witty than most professional comedians, and so I'm largely unimpressed by their efforts. Especially the yank-style pointing at the camera "look at me being funny" stuff. They were so desperate for anything they have focused on this joke.
Look, it wasn't bad but the show format has always been making such comments. they tore into peirs morgan i remember.
For me it was mildly humorous. a nice play on words.... the first was real laughter the second line was forced.
Evans was on about the firs tbit of show being most exiting ever on top gear and how dramatic it must have been for the guy and scary and oh oh oh... and the reality was evans was still trying to one up old top gear in his head while the guy in the car has racing experience and was neve rout of control of the car. it was more of a look how great i am bit.
As i said on weekend clarkson and may were out on weekend saying vote remain.

I quote:
The presenter also said he felt there were “compelling” reasons for leaving but added: “They’re not compelling enough for me to say I want to drive a Morris Oxford, which is what would happen.” Jeremy Clarkson...
(and i'll be clear, when this ape is the voice of reason you know the world is upside down)
his times article: who knew....
'It's being billed by the media as some kind of personal heavyweight showdown between Bouncing Boris and Call Me Dave,' Mr Clarkson wrote, referring to the rivalry between the Prime Minister and Mayor of London, who are battling each other on opposing sides of the EU debate.
'Which would mean we'd have to choose between a man who has screwed up London's roads to indulge his love of a Victorian transport system. And a man whose wife we quite fancy,' the controversial presenter added.
Mr Clarkson, 55, admitted the EU had its problems but said they could be solved if leaders were held to account by the press in Britain, where 'an MP cannot even put a cup of coffee on expenses without being torn to pieces'.
'Isn't it better to stay in and try to make the damn thing work properly?' he asks. 'To create a United States of Europe that functions as well as the United States of America? With one army and one currency and one unifying set of values?'
Mr Clarkson's intervention will surprise many as he is known for his politically incorrect views and his disdain for the red tape generated by bureaucracies such as the EU.
He is part of David Cameron's 'Chipping Norton set' and once hinted he might stand for Parliament against Ed Miliband in his home town of Doncaster.
However it is not the first time he has expressed pro-EU views. He first called for a 'one currency, one army' Europe in a column in 2014.
'I long for a time when I think of myself as a European first and an Englishman second,' he wrote in June 2014. 'I crave a United States of Europe with one currency, one army and one type of plug.'

There's a lot of 'In' ppl posting on this thread. But there are more votes for 'Out' on the poll. So where are these ppl and why aren't they posting???
I'd assume being called right wing, racist fascists might give them pause....There's a lot of 'In' ppl posting on this thread. But there are more votes for 'Out' on the poll. So where are these ppl and why aren't they posting???

True.
As I said saying I don't like Brussels is what a lot say.
I have not seen too many... but I suppose all I'd need to do is go to general chat... racist fascists
Always said it was a weakness in the "Brexit camp"....it's not a homogeneous camp....it's several camps...one of which are xenophobic morons..
Remain can call for "unity" knowing Brexit can't do the same without an accusation they are cosying up with the scum of the earth....
