I used to like the late Brian Moore but my fave would have to be Hugh Johns, had a terrific voice pure class. He is best known for his commentary of that great match bewtween England and Brazil in the 1970 World Cup. He also commentated on the 1966 World Cup final for ITV but people really only remember Ken "they think it's all over, it is now" Wolstenholme. Hugh Johns please log in to view this image
Alan Green on Five live is a total and utter............ I've searched my book of swear words, but none seem appropriate, I don't much care for that person! I know he's not a commentator as such, but I really like Leroy Rosenior! ILD OTBC
I'm with you Kickitoff I think he used to do all the Midlands teams for ITV on World of Sport. I used to remember him doing the Notts Forest, Derby, Birmingham games when Ipswich ever played in the Midlands. One little gem he came out with once "and Johnny Wark has got in there... left Viv Anderson skint and then a little dink inside the far post!" - Good guy!
Richie Benaud - what a marvellous shot that was Sid Waddell - pure class Henry Blofield - always entertaining Peter Alliss - could make golf somewhat interesting Aggers & Tuffers - keeping the common room humour on TMS Bill MacClaren - wonderful voice and knowledge Murray Walker - as Bill MacClaren I can't think of a football commentator worth listening to.
In no particular order Henry Blofeld, Murray Walker, Chris Goreham and Jim Ross (Wrestling) I'm also in agreement with the poor quality of ITV commentators but I really don't understand all the love for Sid Waddell.
I can't understand the love for gerry harrison I always thought he was a complete twat, but maybe thats the attraction
When Brian Johnston completely and utterly loses it on TMS with Aggers. Brilliant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3k0qZDdfvZk
