Title says it all really.

Peter Alliss would be near the top for me. Such a way with words.

Sid Waddell - Such a way with words. Can't understand any of them though.

Loved Murray Walker for obvious reasons.

Not too taken with some of the football commentators though

Got to be chris goreham. The commentary for THAT goal was brilliant. <laugh>

Any commentator for itv has got to be on my least of worst commentator.

Murray (the leading car is absolutely unique, except for the one behind which is exactly the same) Walker <ok>

I think, for an outstanding, but very brief moment, it has to be Harry Carpenter when Frank Bruno had Mike Tyson wobbling, but refusing to topple! <ok>

Know what I mean 'Arry?

Agreed - and 'Awright Neil' for his comments at the time 'THAT' goal went in!!!!

Also, ITV commentators are quite poor by comparison.

Gorham is great, I'd love to be able to press the red button and get instant-Gorham on any game I watch

England commentary is particularly dire at the moment. Mark Lawrenson as the summeriser for BBC.... wow!

Our own Hoveton Henry Blofeld. "I say thats very pretty young lady fielding at fine leg". Just ahead of Brian Johnson who sneeks in ahead of John Arlott. Football commentators leave me cold.
Cliff Morgan used to be good on the rugby with his "rrrrrreal rrrrrrunning rrrrrrugby".
Bill MacLaren
Murray Walker
Raymond Glendening (one for Dave, Maestro etc)
Cherry OOps Eddie Waring
David Coleman with his gaffes
John Camkin, used to do Match of the Week with all the excitement of a funeral director.
Can you remember Dick Graham on Anglia TV. He could talk backwards and when you played it forwards it sounded correct (I know what I mean)

I'm not really a cricket fan so it says a lot that my favourites would be John Arlott and Brian Johnston. The first with that Hampshire burr that even managed to make a drawn test match interesting."And the crowd let out a collective sigh like a deflating bicycle tyre".Johnston for an old codger's take on schoolboy humour. "The batman's Holding, the bowler's Willy".Quite deliberate, perfectly brilliant.

Frank Bough used to do Grandstand with his stockings and suspenders on underneath the desk.
I suppose we should add Jake Humphrey considering he was born within sight of Carrow Road.
Mentioning that famous thoroughfare, my house number is 37 but it now has a plaque "Carrow Road" on the gate. Any hoot toot tries to touch that and they're dead!

Gerry Harrison
David Vine for the snooker and Ski Sunday (RIP)
Barry Davies for football and olympics commentary - an understated genius
Harry Carpenter (RIP)
Whispering Ted Lowe for the snooker (RIP)
Sid Waddel
Richie Benaud & Jim Laker for the cricket

Unfortunately most of them are dead now...
