I think for someone who got a first class honours degree in c*ntology, Merson has put his qualification to good use.

Bloke is twat and I dislike him a lot. Hes just thick.
On this occasion though I think his comments are fair and balanced and as donkey suggests, context is important. He was actually complimentary, and I actually think yesterdays game has opened his and a few others eyes about us. We're decent side, pretty solid and not a walkover for any team. It sounds like he is being very hypocritical but as with Le Tissier I just take it it as a huge compliment that we are converting even the biggest critics

Week after week after week after week all the pundits have been saying "They haven't been tested, they haven't been tested" and NOW he's all like "I think they're tested every week". He's trying to be complimentary but in a patronising "oh well look at that haven't they done well! yes! Good Newcastle, clever Newcastle!" way
Hypocrisy at it's finest. And he's a tool. So I'm allowed. Don't give it all the "Here are my views, I'm correct, you all have no right to talk about this, look at me I'm swearing at you all" thing. Hate it when people do that on forums.
