And following on from the above another memory came back to me, I sold that first album and their second which I thought was called All Because Of You, but was actually Don't Be Fooled By The Name to the record shop in paragon station to fund an away trip to see City. Straight from record shop to outside YEB cash in hand.

I wonder how much they would be worth now?
I recall buying 'Spiral Scratch' Buzzcocks, first press, quite rare now, from a little record shop in or around Paragon Station? and the Clash first album from a record shop across the Road (don't know the street)that you went downstairs too(I lived up here at the time but we were always down visiting my gran). That Clash album was the original pressing and came with a voucher to send away for the Capitol Radio EP,I still have both and the EP is worth £2-300.

Don’t think I’ve ever bought a single, first album was chocolate starfish and the hot dog flavoured water at the grand old age of about 10.

Down stairs record shop would have to be Syd Scarboroughs.

I’m a bit embarrassed to post this but here goes ‘Love grows where my Rosemary goes’ by Edison Lighthouse!
One of my very best friends is David Taylor who played bass !@!@... he did tell me the story of the royalties from the record but I just cant remember what he said... they finally gave up gigging two tees ago when he got cancer...

Grinsteads.
Could listen to records in the back before deciding wether or not to buy!
I remember waiting outside for 1st delivery of Bohemian Rhapsody. 1st one to buy it! Loved early Queen (Queen 1 and 2).
I went to buy the first album Queen from Stardisc in Hull...they had to order it in specially as they hadn't asked for any copies.

Pink Floyd - Brick in the wall from er ... east Yorkshire Radio and Records? Cottingham, just across from the Green.

First album was probably One Step Beyond.

It was actually called East Hull Radio and Records, which was somewhat misleading given that it was in Cottingham.

The original shop was on Holderness Road but you would have thought they'd have come up with a different name for their second shop.

I always thought it was an odd place.

The bloke who ran it in the late 70s was ancient, eccentric and if I recall correctly, rather deaf.

Trying to buy punk records off him was a frustrating experience.
