Great match, huge 5-0 win for Swansea with the record broke for highest score in a cup final. Our pen taker got fouled when he would have scored so its only right he took it. That extra goal was important in stopping any come back. Dyer and Deguz both had amazing games and deserved their deuces. The pen taker is the pen taker regardless of the situation, if Dyer missed we would not have broke a record

Since when was Deguzman our designated penalty taker. We haven't been awarded one all season. He is our free kick specialist but that is all. Had this "discussion" with my mate at the game. he reckons Dyer should have had a more professional approach. In a way he is probably right there was no need for a dicky fit. Personally I felt that JDG as the game was won could have just given him the ball as its not often you get a chance for a hat trick at Wembley in a cup final. Got up this morning and read ML's quote blaming himself for not nominating a penalty taker as he never thought we would have one. What he did say was whoever got the ball first got to take it. So thats that.

Not that it was a big deal and for me in no way spoiled the match but I would have let Dyer take it. I thought that Williams should have stepped in as captain and either told Dyer to walk away or told Guz to let him take it.

I would like to think so unless you get the Evening Post out there. In their extensive coverage at no time are the words embarrassing or disgrace used.

There's no question that JdG is the better dead ball kicker being our free kick specialist. Dyer is better now but when I first saw him in training he was absolute pants and took a long time to improve that aspect of his game.

The arguments are simple. Dyer naturally wanted his hat trick. But JdG had earned the penalty and thus was robbed of a goal. He wanted to make his mark on the final as well and probably thought it was his right to take the penalty. However, I'm sure that if he had ALREADY scored, he would have passed the ball to Nathan. He was not to know that he would go on to score a second anyway.

Well done on winning, like the way your team play the game, but sorry Dyer is a disgrace, spoilt the afternoon for you. You were well in charge of the game, but if this incident had happened when the game was in the balance, what a boost this would have given the opposition, arguing amongst yourselves.

In my book penalties and goals scored in international friendly matches, should not be recorded as official goals scored in a player's goalscoring record. Well done to Laudrup for taking Dyer off sometime later.
