I adore restaurants. I'm a real foody. Not been possible for years though thanks to my situation. Can't wait to get working and back in the restaurants

One room is Deffo a locals bar but there are a couple of rooms where they serve the food which are quite nice.

You'll be on about the one in York itself with all the timber structure on show are you? Lovely building. Never been in though.

    Always liked York.

Last time I went though I felt like I was getting ripped off doing the old touristy bit with my young lads.

I live near York and every time I've gone past Betty's it's totally rammed but I've never been in mainly for that reason, just wondered why it's so crazy popular?

Does Betty serve up a side order of crack and porn with every three scones ordered or something?

I don't know what they are but they sound like my sort of thing. I usually grab a sandwich from somewhere and go to that park to eat it, museum gardens I think it's called? Lovely place York.

It's worth going in for breakfast or afternoon tea even if you have to wait for a table.

Once you're in just take your time and don't allow yourself to be rushed.

Everything about it is class from the food & service down to the historic mirror downstairs.

It was engraved by RAF pilots, who were stationed there in the 2nd war, using the diamond ring of a waitress.

Somehow the waitresses uniforms manage to make the plainest lass look super sexy <laugh>

I try to get to York at least once a month... I love the place.
Went last week just to take my missus for a glass of wine down by the river as she was feeling a bit low.

My favourite places are Pivni (formely Pivo) and the York Tap in the station. Both are owned by the same people, I believe, but both serve amazing drinks. House of Trembling Madness and Evil Eye are also pretty decent. The Evil Eye serves a drink called the "Alan Shearer" which you simply MUST try ;)

My mates fella threw a bottle smashing one of the big mirrors in the Evil Eye beer garden, He was wrestled to the ground by an extra from Emmerdale while I laughed like ****. He was arrested and she dumped him the next day. What a ****er that lad was. True story
