Just been reading Russian ships disguised as fishing boats etc. Have been in the North Sea mooching around various windfarms off our coast and scandanavia.
We have been doing this to each other for decades. It's just being highlighted now for obvious reasons.

So with Ukraine joining NATO, and basically an attack on one NATO nation is an attack on us all, are we now at war with Russia?

They aren't part of NATO yet and from what has been said by the Secretary General, they will become a member but must prevail against Russia first.
Countries currently involved in conflict/war can't join NATO. Once this is sorted and Russia's arse is handed to them then Ukraine will join.

Finland joined NATO a couple of weeks ago to close off the north part of the western Russian border.

I see the Russians are turning on each other again, Wagner boss blaming defence chiefs for his losses and now pulling out of Bakhmut. It's a stunning rant like so expect him to disappear within a few days...

Mr Prigozhin said Wagner's losses would be five times smaller if it was adequately supplied.

"These are Wagner lads who died today. The blood is still fresh," he said, pointing to the corpses surrounding him.

"They came here as volunteers and they're dying so you can get fat in your offices."

In a separate statement, Mr Prigozhin said his forces would pull out of the eastern city of Bakhmut on 10 May.

"I declare on behalf of the Wagner fighters, on behalf of the Wagner command, that on May 10, 2023, we are obliged to transfer positions in the settlement of Bakhmut to units of the defence ministry and withdraw the remains of Wagner to logistics camps to lick our wounds," he said.

"I'm pulling Wagner units out of Bakhmut because in the absence of ammunition they're doomed to perish senselessly."

Surely a private military contractor would be providing their own equipment as part of the price?

Or staged themselves in order to call it an attack on Russia ?

Got to be staged really. If it was the Americans they would target him where he lives, not at his rarely used Kremlin residence. The Ukrainians don't have the capability.

If benefits neither to bump him off.

Maybe dissidents within Russia?

On balance of probability, dissidents within Russia jumps to mind.

I think this kind of staged attack would raise questions about the myth of unshakable power that Putin likes to project.

I would guess that it was the russians themselves as it gives them an excuse not to have their May 9th parades when reality is they don't have any equipment to parade with :)

Civil war breaking out in Russian border village. Lovely.

Fighting has broken out along the Russian border with Ukraine after self-described Russian partisan forces launched a cross-border raid and claimed to have overrun a border village for the first time in the war.

The Freedom of Russia Legion, which describes itself as an anti-Kremlin militia seeking to liberate Russia from Vladimir Putin, claimed to have crossed the border and overrun the settlement of Kozinka, while sending units into the town of Grayvoron in Russia’s Belgorod region.

It is not yet clear how many people have been injured in the fighting, which continued into the evening. Footage of the raid, purportedly from a border checkpoint in Grayvoron, has shown casualties, including video of a Russian officer lying facedown in a pool of blood next to Russian passports and other documents scattered on the floor. The video also showed armoured vehicles appearing to overrun the post.
