Hope so, Rowett and Wagner are available, think what they could do with the squad if Adkins can do it
Adkins has just confirmed that the owners have not offered him a new deal despite his current one expiring in five months.
I'm hoping this is because the owners still think they might be out of there within five months so they don't need to make the decision. If they are still around, surely they'll offer him a deal (although I realise you can't take anything for granted with them). And I get the sense he is genuinely enjoying having been given the opportunity here. Of course if a premier league club came knocking, might be different.
Rowett seems to be one of those 'non stick' managers who is still rated for once having got Birmingham to about 8th in the division playing route one football. Must have a good agent. Think he's been found out since
Took Burton to the play-offs in his first season in management, went to Birmingham and was 7th when he was sacked by the new owner (replaced by Zola, who took them into the relegation zone), went to Derby and took them into the play-offs, before being poached by Stoke. Stoke's been his only really poor performance.
What would be the situation with the one year options and then signing a pre-contract somewhere else? Which would take precedence? Which ever is done first?
Presumably, the player would inform the club that they'd been offered a pre-contract elsewhere and the club would have to decide if they wanted to trigger the extension or not (I'm guessing).
