Yeah I'm worried now. No incoming transfers will compensate for the sheer number of players we're set to lose. I understand why the players are leaving. We've perfectly demonstrated what Laudrup was saying. We've hit our limit and if the players don't need to be limited they will sack us off as quickly as they can for a gravy train with prospects. The problem is now we're going to have a bunch of kids and unproven foreigners to rely on next season with the spine of the team gone. We've managed to go from our best premier league season back to the 2008-09 dutch experiment without any (known) financial distress.
He's dutch and he's unproven outside of the Netherlands. It's not Van Gaal. I'm hopeful he can transition to english football better than Portugal or Spain, but it is so far in some respects the dutch experiment again, integrating too many young and unproven players in a depleted squad. I wish I hadn't watched that AFCB friendly.
He's already better portaloo in my eyes I'm keeping positive and having faith. Let's get a win at anfield and there will be a different feel around here. Edit: I watched liverpools game against Preston last week. They only scraped a win and like us played a lot of youngsters. We need to blood them and integrating during the close season is the best thing to do. I'm not arguing because I know we need to make quite a few signings. Hopefully 2 next week to settle some nerves.
I need some of what your on then. This is now getting ridiculous.....our PL status is in jeopardy if we keep shipping players at this rate, £80M in the bank won't be worth a w*nk once that's gone.
Guan2.0 has gone quite on saintsweb these last few days, so probably no one coming in soon otherwise he would be giving clues.
I like that the board promised openness and transparency, when they're not even giving that to people like Fonte and Cork. If I was a fan of another club I'd be finding this hilarious.
I'm hovering around finding it quite funny myself. There's something of the Fawlty Towers about the board right now. Step forward Basil Reed, Manuel Krueger and Sybil Liebherr.
Seems we have agreed GDP 20M for Lovren and GDP 16M for Chambers - bith sorting out their medicals (source BBC)... Its official - we are a selling club. As for The Board - nothing short of my utter contempt. Bless poor ML - the phrase 'turning in his grave' springs to mind. Is it any wonder that NC walked away - he could see what was coming. We have become the laughing stock of the EPL.
Did you see my other post? I did say I think more then five players will go and more then five will come in.
Too many worry about this...who cares? A few will be cheered by it all...the same as we would be if it was QPR or West Ham, but most will be angry like us that money talks. Other fans like loyalty as well. The proof will be in the season...I still think we will have a decent side.
Christ. Almost every club in the world is a selling club. That's life unfortunately, no different for Arsenal, Liverpool or Man United. NC walked away because he didn't like Katarina interfering with him and his plans, which is easy to do when it's not your money or club. This was always going to be the outcome, players leaving after realising the dream NC told them about was never going to be achievable.
Think Fran is right. A few having a laugh at our expense but most Boards are sympathetic to whats gone on.
I think most are sympathetic because they can see it could happen to them. The top 4/5 feed off the best of the rest making it even harder to close the gap. The champions league money creates an artificial European league.
Given what has happened thus far, I think the Board should be worried about a considerable drop in regular home attendances to around 26,000 - 27,000, a fall of maybe 3,500 compared with our average attendances last and the season before. That is a worry for the them to deal with, not me!!
I've got to say it but I really, really dislike when people bring Markus "turning in his grave" into all of this.
