They started off supporting an anti-racist movement, then it became clear that BLM wasn't just an anti-racist movement, so they distanced themselves from it. This was well over two years ago, but still people bang on about them supporting Marxists and kneeling for George Floyd.

So they are kneeling when no one else is. What are they achieving other than making themselves feel virtuous?

Surely the way to distance yourself from something is to stop doing it and put into practice something that will actually benefit the anti-racism cause such as going and speaking to kids in schools on your day off or trying to educate supporters via social media how sickening it is to hear racist abuse aimed at players coming from the stands?

Bending down on one knee brings to mind three things, BLM, Kier Starmer and Angela Raynors doc martins. All of which are pointless too.

The fact they hadn't done even a basic bit of homework shows it for the virtue signalling ****e it is by an industry that's created more wealthy BAME's than any other industry I can think of. If they really cared, they could donate some of their wages to help people of all colours that are underprivileged. The disabled are far more discriminated against than any other group, perhaps that would be a good place for privileged athletes to start.

Given they showed they had no credible information at the start of the kneeling, how will they know if they're doing any good anyway?

They've come out with excuses to cover up what was clearly a massive **** up at the start rather than any meaningful justification, and they have painted themselves into a corner.

One of those virtue signaling BAME's raised £20m towards eradicating child poverty last year.

Another launched a Foundation to improve education and employment opportunities for young people in London and Manchester.

And the entire England team already donate all their wages to charity and have done for the past fifteen years.

Personally, I'd rather them stop taking the knee, as it's now been years since they stated why they were doing it and this thread is a prime example of what they say not being believed, or accepted, or simply not getting through to people. But while the team collectively want to carry on, I'm going to support their right to do so.

They have no idea why they started, so can't decide when they've 'succeeded'. It was a stupid, ill-conceived idea when there are far better causes, and ways of supporting them.

The list you post actually helps make my point quite nicely when you consider the numbers of wealthy footballers.

It wasn't a comprehensive list, I just used Rashford and Sterling as examples, as we were discussing BAME players.

I was being more inclusive, as I don't think their skin colour matters, but my point still stands.

I don't, beyond whats in the press, but if the aim is to raise awareness of the issues, they're not doing it well if nobody knows.

Anthony Taylor is a dick....Signals for a corner, then immediately blows the whistle for full time, then sends off the Korean coach. Why not just blow the whistle for full time? Little wonder the coach laid into him. Taylor's one and only game in this wc, me thinks.
