Our group will play group h in last 16

So Poland, Senegal, Colombia, Japan.

If we are 2nd we play 1st placed team. And vice versa.

Those are firmly 2nd tier teams.

If we go though to at it's Germany or Brazil barring a shock. We will go out then.

If England can't get past Belgium ok but with Panama and Tunisia we should easily get through group. It would be shameful not to.

The 4 from group h are no better than that bad england team.

Doesn't always work that best team is first and next best is second... Look at last world cup..


Group A... Not much of a surprise. Brazil won.
Group B... Chile and Netherlands qualify instead of Spain.
Group C... No surprise.
Group D... COSTA RICA Tops a group with Uruguay, Italy and England in it.
Group E... F... no surprise.
Group G... Germany won... No surprise but US somehow qualifies ahead of Portugal and Ghana.
Group H... No surprise Belgium tops. But Algeria beat Russia to #2.


Groups are all very unpredictable. 3 games isn't enough to really rank the teams best to worst. Yeah, best teams usually win... But take Group D for example... Uruguay arguably a much tougher team than Costa Rica with a much bigger bite.

Barca or Real. I'd put my money on England "doing well" before putting it on us winning the CL tbh

Dog is a domesticated animal for the last 15000 years . Bear is designated a wild animal and 6 of the 8 species are either endangered or vulnerable. Bears natural habitat is a few hundred square miles.

Russian history of the treatment of bears in this situation also has to be taken into account.

A better comparison might be lions or tigers or elephants ....


And those people training are ****s too. Which is why from 2020 it will be banned in the UK.

Also...
There's a big difference between enrichment exercises .... training tasks that stimulate a dogs brain for it's own mental welfare and training an animal to mimic human gestures for entertainment.

Not saying that every dog owner trains their dog with the former in mind rather than the latter but there is a difference

That's alright then?

It comes down to culture. Dog is a delicacy is some cultures. Granted, bears aren't usually a pet but are the end of the day, it as just as much right to live is life as a dog or a human (opposite ends of the scale)

We can't time travel to change that. Not one of the current domesticated dog breeds occurs naturally in the wild.. they are in effect man made.... designed to live with humans. Your argument would hold more weight with say a wolf or African hunting dog.

None of the species of bear are domesticated.

Is abuse of wild animals for the entertainment of humans cultural?I find It's pretty universal .... the cultural variations are more which animal is abused and how. We do foxes, Spain does bulls, US had Sea World etc etc.

The dog meat thing for me is more about treatment in the process. I would not personally eat a cow or chicken that had been deliberately half drowned, blow torched and skinned alive because the excruciating pain apparently "makes it taste better". I try to keep sadism out of my diet and if others do too then they can eat what they like as long as it's not endangered.

Difference is... not one thing about this is natural for that bear. And we aren't even taking into consideration it's housing and training methods ... none of which the Russians cover themselves in glory with traditionally.

It's natural life is in 300miles squared of Russian forest.

Jaffa's answer is acceptable imo. If it involves torture than it shouldn't happen and this was the reasoning I was expecting.

I wouldn't value any animal over another, irrelevant of cultures or historical reasoning.

I'm happy to eat them all :)
 
Various methods will be used to make the bear stand up on its back legs and walk. Tieing them above their heads to a beam which if they get tired and want to put their front paws down will cause pain and regularly dislocate. Not too dissimilar to Nazi torture of jews in concentration camps.

To then be as calm as that bear and be on the pitch and under control, he has probably been through a crap load of turture induced control

I think you inferred that because I didn't say it. All I pointed out was it's a false equivalency other than under a very broad umbrella of animal welfare.

What I actually said is there are two distinct set of animals now on the planet. Wild: that get on at their best when humans don't interact with them... either through taking them into captivity or encroachingon their habitat.

Domesticated animals: animals that have changed so much (due to us) from their wild origins that they actually need human input for welfare and maintenance.

Neither is more deserving than the other. It's just with one set the damage has been done thousands of years ago.

Returning animals to their habitat and protecting that habitat is the ideal. Since most domesticated animals as they are never had a habitat outside of the human created there's nowhere to return them too. So our action , our duty of care.

Dogs are a social animal that adapt to and enjoy human companionship and instruction/challenge. Bears are solitary animals that are coerced to performing against their will.

Comparing apples to orange coloured pebbles.
