Kane and Vardy both looked to be in a bit of decent form and both play better in a pairing. So, which one we be the lone striker for England? <laugh>

There was a debate on this on talkshite too.

IMo there is a strong case for a 433 with vardy kane and sterling all playing up top.

The midfield and cntre half situation is poor enough .

    I think:

    pickford
    Walker Stones Cahill Rose
    Dier henderson alli
    Sterling kane vardy

    The issues for me are:

Alli thinks he is a forward when in fact he is a running midfield player pushed on by the spuds. he's wasting his time trying to be a 10

    Whilshire is pony
    Lallana won't be fit

Rashford has been dropped by utd so is now a doubt for left side started

Even in defence. rose should be logical LB but spurs have ****ed him up too.

    Goalkeepers

Jack Butland, Joe Hart, Jordan Pickford

    Defenders

Kieran Trippier, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire, Gary Cahill, Ashley Young, Ryan Bertrand, Fabian Delph

    Midfielders

Eric Dier, Jordan Henderson, Lewis Cook, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Dele Alli, Jesse Lingard

    Forwards

Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Danny Welbeck, Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy

simply put there are ways to puit a decent line up together in a 343 or a 433 but england have a functional midfield there

I hope they are not right ans TAA doesn't go. All he will be doing is parked on a bench bored. England should bring lallana at least... prob thats actually bad for LFC to say but thats what they should do.

I don't think 433 gets the best out of Vardy. Even with Stealing and Vardy up there, we'd lack pace up top because they're out wide. Kane isn't going to be Firminoesque

no tbh they are not going to be fluid.

I was frankly thinking of sit deep and ****ing lump it up there are them.

thats the only real way we can play anyway. holding the ball for 10 minutes around the back and controlling a game is beyond us so going direct and fast is the best way to score.

    Wouldn't take Welbeck, been w@nk for a w@nk team.

If TAA went, I bet he would love the experience etc.

That England team looks awful too, out of the group and thats it

Judging by the fact that relegated Butland and Dodger Pickford are the main contenders for the GK, its a sign of desperate times.

It is awful. The group is easy and last 16 potential opponents are nobody decent.

It would would be absolute failure to not be in qf getting battered by an actual decent side.

If football hadn't started in it's modern form.in England, and the first internationals hadn't been between England and Scotland, team GB might be a real thing and would have had more than just 1966 to be proud about.

Imagine combining England's teams from the 80s with the wealth in talent in Scotland at the time... And Ian Rush. There is certainly talent in Wales today than could make a combined team. (Although native talent on the island is less than in previous decades)

We play four weak teams every tournament instead of one good team.

We have only once had 4 teams in a final.

At this point all England would take is bale.

Maybe so, but we field 4 teams, for qualifiers at least. Today's top XI would probably be mainly English, but there were certainly times in the past when Scotland would have been much more heavily represented.

Wales would.probably lose less talent to rugby if they had a national football team to get behind. Probably be more Welsh players up to international grade.

    If We were fair.

Ian Callaghan got 4 caps total off the southern fa.

    4.

The guy was a freaking legend.

The Scots would have been ignored.

You are right though off dominated because of picking the best Scots.

Dalglish, Hanson and souness, add in rush and anynenlgand side of the 1980s would have been improved.

    1986 world cup qf team.

    Shilton
    Stevens
    Sansom
    Fenwick
    Butcher
    Ried
    Sansom
    Hoddle
    Hodge
    Lineker
    Beardsley

Barnes and waddle left on bench... look at that team... southern ****s would ignore the scots

Rumblings that Joe Hart has been omitted by Southgate.

I can't see Southgate going with a 433. 343 is more likely. Either way the CB's probably aren't good enough.

    3 x CB's
Walker and Rose play as wing backs
Hendo plus one other in the centre - a fully fit and functioning Wiltshire would be ok (but we all know that he isn't)

Kane as the Centre forward, Sterling to his right, Rashford/vardy to his left. Width should come from Rose and Walker which will make the front three more effective.

    anyhting could happen.

Its about faith in system, faith in players.

Walker and rose are shoe in potentially yes

Front 3 might happen but i could see someone being very isolated though in what in effect becomes 541 as the team shows no faitn in ability to defend.

No point in taking him imo. Not good enough to start and the only experience he can offer is failure.
