Majority of my family (both sides) are from the southern areas of Ireland, so really wish them all the best :) great result tonight. Really hope they get to WC and do well there. Hoping for England Ireland final :)

He was doing well at Swansea and Everton took him away from them.

Brazil is playing Chilli early in the morning, again we have to rush Coutinho and Firmino home for United on Saturday.

Commiserations, luv. Only caught a glimpse, but the goal looked suicidal.

We played ****e and got what we deserved, no complaints really. I don't really care and at least it gives me an excuse not to watch the bloody thing now as I'm always bored to tears by the 1/4rs

    That's the spirit. <ok>
I watch internationals when they're the only thing on, but quite honestly if they stopped tomorrow I wouldn't miss them.
I'd happily do away with the bloody gaps in our domestic season.

I believe they are looking to make the tournaments longer, I was reading that somewhere. They've already killed it imo but there must be interest for them to do this so perhaps it's just me and a few other disgruntled people who think it's boring.

You must believe that England can win it, if the unexpected happens:laugh:.

My gruntle disappeared long ago when it comes to breaks in the season.
The tournaments I can bear, but like I said, I wouldn't cry if they ceased to exist. If you get into them they take up too much of your summer anyway.

I agree they are too much.

Imo 1998 was my breaking point <laugh>

I watched every game in groups and was so sick of it by qfs.

I have never since watched group games bar own interest.

I'm going to leave the group games alone and watch from the knockout only and see if that makes it more interesting, might even miss the first round of knockout actually and go from there.

I dunno. I deffo felt jaded with 3 games a day and bored as the standard was imo sub league.. as in championship at best at times.

I think in general you need a mix of styles to make a good game. I deffo think i'll skip the euros in 20202 totally. the football is too similar. At least at WC you can catch a brazil v some european side type game. Not sure if Qf is right time to start watching tbh. its hard to know.

My view is the premier matches will be put on in evening so pick and choose out of those?

Yeah I'll cherry pick the games I watch from there as well, I'm deffo making that change though. I usually watch the whole thing.

Internationals are a way of keeping football interesting for the broad masses and widening the revenue base, so I don't think they're going anywhere soon. I still like the idea of ibternationals, and that being chosen to represent your country should be an esteemed honour, but 15+ years of awful football and underachievement by England makes it hard. I'm guessing that if we played exciting football and did well AT a tournament with a team that people could identify with, interest might pick up again.

The main problems seem to be youth development, lack of coaches and culture/training once players break through, e.g. Wilshere and Barkley would be a decent CM if they'd fulfilled their potential. The youth teams are actually doing ok at the moment, but how many of them do we expect to go on to be decent players?

That, and mentality at big tournaments.

It's just annoying that most of the changes introduced by Germany after 2000 came from a report for the FA (by Howard Kendall?), which the FA basically ignored (and still does ).

Yeah, I'm not sure I'll make it to those either.
