Because the standard isn’t as good as the PL.

This World Cup has been very enjoyable to watch but the fact so many goals have been penalties and set pieces shows that the quality of club football is a lot better.

International football seems to be more about mental ability than physical.
Just a reminder that Sam Allardyce and Tony Pulis were able to thrive for many years in the Premier League off little more than set pieces...

Mido is suggesting on social media that Walker should be dropped for the Sweden match and replaced with Dier. He says brains and ball playing ability are more important than speed against a team like Sweden.
Walker cramped up horrendously towards the end of the Colombia match. The rest might do him good.
I really wasn't sure about him at centre-half before the tournament started, but he's adapted to it pretty well.
His positioning hasn't been too bad and his pace lets him operate as a very effective sweeper.

I think he'll be ok physically. It was slightly odd seeing him cramp up that badly, as it was a cool night and I'd bet that he'd run a lot less than he would playing full back in the PL or FA Cup, etc. There weren't lots of others similarly affected that I saw.

If there's any doubt about his fitness, then better to rest him against Sweden, who have very little pace in their side. Croatia and Perisic is a completely different prospect and Bonzo will need to be taking care of the space behind Kieran Trippier, IF WE GET THAT FAR. I wouldn't want to watch Stones, or any of our other centre halves, do that job as they'd get taken to the cleaners.

This has slipped under the radar..... Moanarinho criticising the 'cheating' of England players against Colombia when talking to the Kremlin mouthpiece, Russia Today (RT)!! <doh>

Jose Mourinho hits out at England and Harry Maguire for 'theatrics' during shootout win over Colombia

Really hope this gets more circulation and the twat gets the appropriate reception when he turns up at PL grounds next season! :emoticon-0148-yes:

Bitter??? Moi??
Irish sports journalists are generally keen to slate the English - fair do's!

But I cannot help but think that this guys missus must have recently just cheated on him with the entire Premier League!! <laugh>

Prediction time! Had a dream last night that I was watching England play France...… who we can only meet in the final.

Problem is we were losing 3-1 with not long to go! :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

So stopped watching and went to check the result later to see if Harry got the Golden boot...… and we had lost 5-2! Goals from Kane and Rose for us and think Mbappe got 2 for France so no wiser about if Harry got the golden boot or not......

Looks like Uruguay are going to show Colombia how to really play filthy South American football. Suarez looks 'pumped', so I'm expecting something truly appalling.

...while making John Stones look like a reactionary moron.

Colombia are amateurs compared with these boys. It was disappointing to see how easily and completely riled Henderson and Stones got. Harry just ignored them and he got a penalty by being fouled without responding. Henderson 'The Born Leader' nearly got himself sent off by losing his temper like a petulant toddler. Man up and see the dirty bastards off.
