So not only have Spurs supplied half of the England squad, but we've also managed to get the Spain manager sacked on the eve of the tournament? Levy will probably ask for a fee.
I dread to imagine the Orange Overlord's tweets about holding 1/3 of a World Cup On the other hand, Justin Trudeau's might be pretty amusing...
Pretty sure we get variations on this every tournament, but may as well get it out of the way... please log in to view this image
As much as i loved Glenn Hoddle as a player I hate him as a commentator........sorry but he is so boring and sucks the life out of a game
Putin We’ll give SF 3 million Saudi Prince. We’ll give SF 4 million Putin We’ll give you 5 Saudi Prince That and 10 oil wells
The Daily Mail are apparently very upset the Saudi team has somebody named Farage playing for them. Also, is Saudi Arabia's habit of decapitating people the reason none of their defenders seemed capable of heading the ball?
Yes. Yes he is. I've expressed this opinion to anyone who will listen. The side netting goal is about par for his commentary. He gets excited when nothing is happening and sounds bored when it's exciting. Will call offside when nowhere near and a foul when there is none. And breathe.
In the last World Cup he misinterpreted the goal line decision technology when there were two close decisions one after the other and he thought the second contradicted the first
Egypt/Uruguay summary * Can somebody tell Egypt that their anthem sounds exactly like something from the Horse Guard Parade? * I keep forgetting how ludicrous Uruguay's anthem is: a minute's worth of instrumental, and just when you think it's finished, then they start singing * Why the organisers thought having all the fans in the ends that are outside the stadium and not in the stand the camera looks at for 90% of the match is beyond me * Praise be to Yevon that I didn't accept the "Down a shot every time they mention Salah" challenge * I'm not sure if Suarez was trying to chip the keeper from the halfway line or play the ball in to the winger, but he managed to do neither * While the commentators were right to condemn El-Said's obvious dive, would they have been so damning if it was Salah doing the same thing? * Uruguay pass the ball sideways so much that Luis Andre de Pinha Cabral e Villas-Boas would find it excessive * It says a lot about Jonathan Pearce and Martin Keown that they were both preparing to launch into some tirade about VAR when the replays showed that Suarez's shot was wide - and it wasn't hard to spot, either, given the ball bouncing back past him was also wide of the post * The BBC opened their Man of the Match poll, and my first thought was how many people would be voting for Salah - but as they don't get the BBC in Egypt, we know who'd be voting for him en masse... * It took Uruguay 60 minutes to realise that passing the ball forwards creates chances * Was it the entire crowd jeering the turgid football on display, or was it just the hangry Egyptian fans? * Suarez gets the ball in a great position, but rather than shoot he dribbled in the hope he could trip over the Egyptian keeper - only for the keeper to stay on his line, and Suarez to look like he forgot what shooting is * Salah doesn't come on, and you can almost smell the sense of indignant rage from the Nile delta Merseyside * What? A goal? Well that woke me up... Over to you, Iran & Morocco...
Not a very inspiring match. Suarez was what he is, Godin showed what a class player he is and the ref missed the opportunity so set the punishment bar for diving. Oh and Cavani played for five minutes. Next.
The radio commentary said the same thing initially. Can't remember if it was 5Live or TalkShite that was on, I was mostly asleep.
