I've been rooting for Paraguay but this is the most obvious case of corrupt officiating I've seen since South Korea in 2002.

Well he didn't originally, had no choice once sent to monitor and shown it really.

Well you don't believe any refs at these tournaments could ever possibly be corrupt.

If it's all down to incompetence then it's the biggest group of coincidences ever that France got all the cards and Paraguay none.

Most corrupt officiating I've seen in years and years. Occams Razor.

I thought there were multiple occasions where the referee allowed play to quickly restart, when you wonder if a VAR review was happening in the background (once play is restarted, VAR can't go back). And that in turns makes me wonder if Almiron breaking away, and hence keeping the ball in play long enough for that penalty VAR review, might have been important.

Just a **** ref booking 3 France players and no Paraguay ones despite Paraguay giving the dirtiest performance in years and not giving a stonewall penalty he had a perfect view of. Oh and despite the time wasting throughout added 0 minutes when it was 0-0 but 7 minutes when Paraguay needed a goal.

Please remember this isn't an attack on referees as a whole, but that was the most blatant corruption I've seen since 2002.

And I wanted Paraguay to win so it's not based on sour grapes. Just painfully obvious.
