FIFA also take a 15% commission from both the buyer and seller.

Side point but I looked up the match times for the ‘94 World Cup and they were far more friendly for a European audience. I’ll happily watch any level of football but think most of the group stage will pass me by. 32 teams was perfect but this is going to drag.

From an outsider looking in ......... for many years.
I'm amazed that England have so many good players, yet struggle, regardless of who the manager is, to get along & click.
Would l be correct in saying that ego's possibly, are the reason the team has failed for so long.
Everybody is playing for themselves instead of the team.
Just an observation and l may be wrong but so many players, so many proven managers yet not a lot to show for it.
Hey ......... l'm on your side. I'd love to see England win the World Cup but l don't see the easy / punishing wins to say your about to do it.

It seems like FIFA have done the Yanks up like a kipper, everything seems to be inflated beyond the ridiculous yet FIFA walk away with all the profits. They're just a legalised Ponzi. Imagine if we ever get a World Cup what the reaction would be to their pricing structures...

I don’t think it’s that so much as they’re not doing anything (or simply don’t care) to stop it. Democrat states/politicians in particular inheriting a tournament they had no say in pleading poverty and the only solution being to fleece tourists. The Jersey stadium is apparently in the middle of nowhere and takes multiple changes and time to get to from NYC. The whole thing is a mess for anyone going.

Still, looking forward to lobbing a pint in the air as we go 12-0 up against Panama.
 
On that subject it'll be interesting to see what the pricing for Euro 2028 works out at, will UEFA follow FIFA with extortionate pricing?...

Football Australia has called for a ban on public watch parties for the 2026 World Cup in Melbourne’s Federation Square to be reversed.

The governing body said it was “extremely disappointed” with the decision by Melbourne Arts Precinct, which cited previous “dangerous” fan behaviour in the square.

“The Fifa World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and unites Australia’s multicultural communities, while reinforcing our national identity,” said Football Australia chief executive Martin Kugeler on Wednesday.

“Live sites create iconic moments for Australian sports fans.

“Melbourne is one of Australia’s sporting and multicultural capitals, and this decision goes against this tradition.”


Katrina Sedgwick, chief executive of the Melbourne Arts Precinct, which manages the square, said the behaviour of some fans led to its decision not to host World Cup watch parties.

“This issue is really with a very small group of fans who, unfortunately, behave in a way that is just antisocial and frankly, dangerous,” she told public broadcaster ABC.

“The challenge is when you have a crowded square with lots and lots of people and people are smuggling in flares.”

Some people were injured by flares in previous World Cup screenings, Sedgwick said.

“I think on the final night of the last Socceroos game we screened, we counted over 100 flares and fireworks that had been let off in the square.”

The Socceroos begin their World Cup against Turkey in Vancouver on June 13, followed by games against co-hosts the United States in Seattle six days later and Paraguay in California on June 25.

Former Socceroo Craig Foster criticised the ban on Federation Square watch parties, posting on social media: “All stakeholders should be working to overturn this absurd decision.”
