Because contracts, wages, etc, are usually paid monthly.
Mmm,I've no knowledge whatsoever on this, but during transfer windows players sign for one club and leave another at any variable date during a month, and it surely wouldn't be beyond anyone in the financial office to calculate a pro-rata salary.

Absolute yawn fest, the whole thing. There is nothing right about it.

Mostly far too hot, often played on very dodgy, temporary and potentially dangerous pitches, vast distances to be travelled, three time zones to be contended with, insanely expensive, the usual shocking refereeing standards, far too many teams present and kick off times which mean either barely anyone watches or the match is played in air as hot as a branding iron.

Never been so disinterested, and up until the last one, which didn't bother me much either, I always used to look forward to it like a kid would look forward to Christmas.

They have killed it.
agree with all of this,

just something doesnt feel the same about it

Totally agree mate. I'm not a fan of international football anyway, although I will be watching our lads, and hoping to see some good football from everyone, hoping we get them back fit and well. Couldn't give a **** otherwise.

Yes, it obviously can be done but most aren't calculated that way ...

... otherwise it throws up anomalies that may not have been relevant at the time.

As just one example Alan Browne's contract, his loan to Boro, etc. If Boro had finished seventh, and his contract ended he may not have been able to play at Wembley, winning a place in the Premier League, when they were reinstated.

But surely the loan agreement would run until the last match of the season, which,in Browne's case, would be the play-off final.

Great post marra. It seems to be being abused as a Trump PR exercise... we all know who will be on stage at the winners ceremony wearing a cringe red cap with a MAGA logo <laugh> <laugh>

That's a fair summary.

On top of all of that there are other things I don't like personally.

I don't believe a nation like England should have a German manager ...

... and I don't like seeing 'Saudi' players like Toney being given preference over Welbeck who's playing in the PL.

Other stuff as well but the list is too long and boring.

Will there also be a list of which British political leaders will be at the games 'having a pint with the lads' <cheers>

I know John Swinney will be there, in his kilt, 'to bring investment into Scotland' ...

... more like duty frees would be my guess <laugh>
I think that's a little unfair. My guess is he will be trying to market an RV " one owner only 4 miles on the clock"

Yep. But ALL the blame lies with FIFA. The tournament goes where they send it, or more accurately to the place that pays the most wonga.

Agree about the manager. I like Tuchel, but I think that if a footballing country cannot produce a coach through it's own system, then it should pay the same price as it does when it cannot produce a good centre forward, and has to play the next best they have.

Maybe allowances should be made for emerging countries in some way, but for most, I think if you cannot produce a coach you think is good enough, you use the one you think is next best.
