I watched 2 friendlies yesterday, Canada v Uzbekistan & USA v Senegal. Canada looked poor as did Uzbekistan, though Millar, who played the first half, was their best player IMO. I was impressed with USA, who beat Senegal 3-2; both looked like good sides.

A lot of the "smaller" nations competing are going to dumped on pretty hard by the bigger teams.

Uzbekistan, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran (sans Allahyar btw, what the hell), Egypt, Qatar, South Africa and the Czech Republic have squads mostly made up of players playing in their home nations, while New Zealand have Tommy Smith from Braintree Town in their squad and Haiti's first choice keeper is ex-Oldham athletic goalie Johnny Placide.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for smaller nations qualifying and having a go - they've earned the right to after all - but there has to be an understanding that unless you can call upon players in a higher standard of league, it's gonna be a monumental task to even be competitive for some of these squads.

It's probably the first time in my life, that I'm not really getting the buzz of it all as our National team are about to play in a World Cup.

Nothing to do with where it's being played or the politics of it all,I just think the goodness and excitement is slowly being drained away from the game in general.

VAR has done a good job in turning into a robotic theatre and now they're drafting up new rules as and when suits...The game is turning and certainly not in it's favour.

Half time in the final is due to last 30 mins.....That's how much the US tv corporations have got their grubby hands on this. It's going to be $hite...
Nobody knows how long half time will be in the final, the Americans want to extend it, but the rules say they can't.

It's not being shown here either, at least not on the BBC.

The FA will consider how England players confront the possibility of facing Thomas Partey, who is due to stand trial on rape charges and has been selected to represent Ghana, for a pre-match handshake at the World Cup. Seems obvious...

The way one commentator was talking about it, it was cast in stone....Primarily, in order to put on the half time show....vis-a-vis the Superbowl half time show.

Ps....The only good thing to come out of a disastrous World Cup is that Infantino will be forced to jack it in.

Just watched NZ get thrashed by Haiti 4-0, NZ had Chris Wood up top, but little service to him.
