Spence over Trent
Burn over Maguire
Bizarre.

No Foden, Palmer, MGW, Bowen, Wharton.
Spence can play in both full back positions and although he's reputedly a prick, I do rate him so I've no complaints about him in the squad. Alexander Arnold hasn't always been great for England and though personally I'd have took him I can understand why he's not been taken even.

Burn, though, I think he's liability. Lacks pace, not good with his distribution, he's a "head it, kick it" centre half and anyone running at him will crucify him. Saying that Maguire hasn't been an England regular over the last 2 years, he's only had 4 caps in that time and it's not that long ago that people were criticizing him being picked. Personally I'd not have taken either Maguire or Burn especially if someone else had been better, say Colwill.

Of the ones left out, the only one I'm disappointed about is Wharton, who i'd have included. The likes of Foden and Palmer have had poor seasons, Gibbs White was up against Bellingham and Rodgers for his position, Bowen unlucky but there's a lot of competition up top and he's likely competing against Saka and Madueke for a right side berth.

Fair post mate.

I’d probably have taken Bowen over Madueke but Madueke does has the pace Bowen lacks.

I keep forgetting about Rogers and my god he is some player.

Actually a 3 of Rice, Bellingham and Rogers is potentially superb, I just see a slight imbalance with wide positions. We are stacked with left sided players at minute.

Eze left Saka right isn’t offensive. Kane is a monster, Pickford is absolutely elite for England.

It is a very good squad but definitely there’s questions.

I think we have a great chance.

Livaramento-Konsa (massively underrated) - Guehi- Nico is very good.

Will Liva stay fit though?

Gibbs White had been decent, but he's up against Bellingham and Rodgers for his position. It's a tough one, but I doubt he'd get in ahead of them.
true enough, although i think he would be a better choice than henderson.

not really struck on the defence, starting to look like tuchel put all the names in a hat and those he drew out are in the squad.

I like the first 4 in the squad for the backline, I do worry about after that if anyone isn’t available.

Surprised Hall didn’t go he may be a Mag and for all that I think O’Reilly is a better player Hall should have been there.

I’m always baffled about Tomori and what happened with him.

Konsa and Guehi are outstanding CB though.

i don't know, maybe i look at things wrong but i always look at some players and think 'yep he is very good in that team with his regular team mates around him'...which is all well and good for the league/cup games, but does he show that bit of nous to be able to alter his game when alongside 'new' team mates.

we have all seen players that looked excellent in one squad, get a transfer and start to look like a fish out of water and never get back to how they were.

as for the mags, i thought hall and miley were the only ones with any fight in them, burn has done feck all bar looking slow and clumsy.

Gordon going, who hasnt played a full match since we beat the Visitors in March
but goes

Listening to the news on the radio earlier and Tuchel was explaining why he picked Toney. What I can remember is:

Big physical threat in the box
Compliments Kane in the squad
Excellent in the air so will help with set pieces (attacking and defending, I think he was implying)
Uses his body very well
Not to mention being a world class penalty taker

Though they've not announced it, there's always a back up list, so I'd still think the likes of Wharton, Gibbs White, Bowen aren't out altogether, depending on any injuries. There'll be others as well, though I think Maguire might have burned his bridges with his reaction.

Looking at the squad other than Burn, Henderson (he's had a good season, despite me thinking his legs had gone, and I understand why he's been picked even though I'd have taken Wharton in his place) and Toney, it's largely the squad I'd have picked. I'm not surprised that Hall missed out, he was poor in his recent England appearances and has looked a bit suspect for the mags recently, I think a lot of people have been blinded by his hype lately. Livramento is one I'd not take because of his injury record, I'm not sure if he is actually ready to play again this season, so if he doesn't I'd not be surprised if he was dropped out for someone else.

Basically though, it's pretty much the squad I'd have picked if I were the manager. I'm more happy that Palmer and Foden weren't picked after their poor seasons, despite the journalist on SKY shouting that they should be there as "they've done it in the past" . But as you say, there are questions about it.

That pretty much sums up DCL , not sure about his penalty taking, but he plays in the Prem and not a farmers league.

Maybe just me but I don't mind the squad. Henderson hasn't been picked to start games. He's an experienced sub. Strong midfield and forwards. Worried about defence.
Only would argue MGW over Madueke.
Too many good national teams though at moment so don't have massive expectations.

As someone mentioned, looking forward to watching the lads play for their own national teams.

Hall was poor when he played for England recently and has been a bit suspect for the mags recently. He's had a lot of hype which I think has blinded people to him not being great recently.

Tomori is an odd one, it's 3 England managers now who don't rate him, it makes you wonder if there's something else behind the scenes with him. Attitude, maybe? There has to be something.

We know he's fit, he just doesn't want to play for the mags anymore, even then if Howe won't say it.

I agree, though with his injury record it's always a worry he'd breakdown. He'd definitely have been in my squad after Kane and Watkins though.

Aye it’s such an odd one Tomori.

I don’t buy its owt to do with being overseas, he’s at AC Milan and lads get picked from Saudi.

You could be right could be ‘off the park’, cos like you say 3 gaffers on belt, sold by Chelsea and no real attempts by anyone to get him back to PL.

His pace as a CB is a real asset so it always has me head scratching.

I don’t mind Gordon being there when his heads in the game he can be a real weapon.

He just hates playing for the Mags and we can all understand that <laugh>

Henderson over Wharton is the biggest sore point.
Dont even get me started on Gibbs-White not being included. Also whats Madueke done to justify getting called up?
Madueke is a decent player and getting better IMO. But the main thing he has done is sign for Arsenal. Bowen is a better call. He always does something in a game. But he plays for West Ham, and Wharton plays for Palace. And MGW plays for Forest.

If Spence had went to say, Brentford and performed at the level he has shown for Spurs, there is obviously no hope in a fiery hell of him being picked for England. Etc.

Toney however is a mind bogglingly odd pick. Inexplicable. He has spent a year in a rest home and is known to be a d***head.
