Matthijs de Ligt a 92nd minute sub to replace Nathan Ake, bet that's not something many thought they'd be hearing before the WC started.
Barring one or two short spells for the Yanks, it's been very easy and routine-like for the Dutch. Hasn't felt like they've gotten out of 2nd gear.
He's impressed against a slightly above average USA team who if playing in the PL would probably be bottom half of the table. As others have said, Emerson and Doherty have set the bar so frighteningly low, it really isn't difficult to clear it with ease. Dumfries whenever I've seen him play relies on better team mates around him to excel. At the age of 26 you'd want more from a key player. That said, I can see exactly the same thing happening to him if and when Kulusevski is absent as it does to the other two, as said better players are no longer alongside him. I wouldn't be against signing him, but feel we'd still need to spend big on an even better option.
Ignore the three games where somebody is ****e and go all-in on the one where he (unlike the opponents) turn up Isn't this the logic that saw us spunk £16.5m on Barren Dent?
Had a very decent tournament so far, even more impressive considering he returned from a cruciate just last month and therefore only played one game this season at Stoke before the World Cup.
Don't suppose the Aussies fancy bringing on Rupert Murdoch for a few minutes? No reason why I'm asking please log in to view this image
They used to tell me the English anthem should be Land of Hope and Glory. But we seem to be a little short of Hope and Glory!
