i like uruguay, they are a small proud nation , with progressive govt , that helps its people , they play great football , they have won two world cups and two olympic golds , for a population of 4 million something good must be going on , they were unlucky last time in the semis , they have more about them than ronaldos lot , who frankly scrapped past wales in the euros and are over reliant on twinkle toes , who should not be playing , so much for VAR .
I backed them before the start , and wouldn't swap them for anyone !
I backed France, whilst not regretting it they haven’t impressed me in their 3 games. Uruguay are a strong team and if Suarez can stay on the pitch they have a great chance and can hurt any team. Will be very interesting in the last 16, some teams need to step it up and I’m sure they will. Good tournament so far in my view, only 1 nil nil so far

This is ****in ridiculous. VAR has just given a bunch of prima donnas and play actors a chance to indulge their theatrics even more than usual. This World Cup needs Nigel Owens to take charge off all the remaining matches.

Pleased with that. Want Iceland out ahead of anyone else - if Argentina go too it will be a happy bonus :)

got half your wish , if the ex watford striker was more composed the other result would have happened as well , iceland are the stoke city of the finals , good they've gone , the better teams are at last warming ..apart from the french who need to get beat !

Rio the expert pundit talking about the importance of squad unity for Argentina but couldn't manage it himself when playing for England because him and all the other girls amongst the golden generation were too preoccupied with Premier League rivalries [HASHTAG]#twat[/HASHTAG].

Biggest ****er that ever put on a pair of football boots - horrible twat

I find it mildly amusing when the pundits involve Didier Drogba in assessing whether it was a penalty. I m not sure if he really is the best person to comment. Done his fair share of diving and cheating in his time so he probably doesn't feel comfortable analysing and stating when players are cheating the rules. :emoticon-0100-smile

Better referee tonight and correct assessment following VAR. In general VAR has been a success for me. Adds drama and with the exception of the clown refereeing last night has been used to good effect.

Used to go into a 'biker' bar just beyond 'Le Peripherique'. Rough looking lot however the beer and bourbon was dirt cheap end the juke box was brilliant!

Interesting game that one-Argentina muck at the back but France really not at races either. How bloody slow is Masher gone, has to be dropped but that manager doesn't really have a say in that team!!!On a side note the amount of penalties being awarded is getting out of hand-I thought VAR would be good for the game but I'm not so sure now.Certainly needs to be redefined and tweaked. What really needs to be brought in is that the captain alone should be only player allowed to speak to referee like in rugby, any other player who tries should get booked.Stop all the ****e with players trying to influence and conning the refs.

I 've said on here before football could learn a lot from rugby on the officiating. Let's heear the commentary as well for clarity...and if a player gets picked up on the mic swearing he gets sent off.

You got it however I love the dump. Sometimes get up at around 04.00 and venture out to the all night 'boozer' across from the Gare du Nord. Had some great laughs with Africans! As long as they buy their round I couldnae give a f**k! There is always one 'all nighter' close to each of the main stations in Paris populated by the usual vagabonds and scoundrels you find in such rub-a-dubs throughout Europe. Moi?
