I think this is exactly what England wanted. Given the choice you’d always take the lower half of the draw.
I think it's a disgrace playing to come second for a so called easy route to the final. Brazil haven't looked particularly impressive so wouldn't have anything to fear from them
At least Southgate knows his best 11. Tonight was about giving the others some game time and not picking up any unnecessary injuries. Happy to finish second - imagine we get to the semi-final !!!!!!
Be honest England fans - if, 3 weeks ago, you’d been told we have to beat Colombia and then Switzerland / Sweden to get to the World Cup semi-final you’d have been happy with that.
Totally. I honestly don't think most sane England fans think there's a chance of winning it but want to see decent performances. This lot are a breathe of fresh air when compared to the rabble that went to WC2014 and Euros2016. They played like they never met before. Interesting to see Pickford getting stick already from the 'experts'. Those same clowns gave that useless ****er Hart miles of rope over the years.
I thought you were about to become a German. I hope the dude who is looking at your application isn't on here. It will be nein for sure .
**** that I pay my taxes here Going to be in Le Havre for the Colombia match, hoping to see some Dunkirk spirit
Disappointing tonight. Feel sorry for the fans who paid to watch it. Clearly we were not really interested in winning. If Harry Kane loses out on the golden boot by one goal he will be mightily pissed off! I hope it doesn't backfire on us. It's only on paper an easier route and the 1st team need to pick up where they left off following a defeat. Lets hope they can and they are switched on mentally . So much of top sport is to do with the mental side Fingers crossed they beat Columbia next.
I hope all my 'England' supporting chums are aware that James Rodriguez is unlikely to play on Tuesday. Just a wee thought from a concerned FC Bayern supporter.
Call me old fashioned but I prefer to keep a side with a winning mentality and I work on the ethos the more they play together the better they will become. But then I m not a fan of this modern approach of 'resting players' and now it seems ' not really interested in winning' and plotting our easier route to the final.
I cannot really comment on the 'resting' of players however 'accepting' a result to give a chance of deeper progress into a competition is not new. It is widely suspected that West Germany (Maier, Beckenbauer, Breitner, Hoeness, Muller et al) did not put in 100% in 1974 against East Germany. This allowed them to avoid Argentina, Brazil or The Netherlands in the quarter and semi finals. Just saying like!
