Actually FML, most of your posts recently have been VERY positive, so I can only apologise. <sorry>
IMO, I’ve been very impressed with England’s play, especially against Panama – in previous World Cups, they would have struggled.
Southgate seems to have cast aside selecting players on their reputation and they are playing as a TEAM!!!!
Thank you.

Waiting to hear from the General. It is rare that I actually remember much about what is said on this board these days, but I do remember him saying "I can't see past the Germans" (or something very similar.

I must admit, I thought the same at the time but hells bells they were bloody awful in all three games

They were lucky to come bottom :)

Not seen a bad interview from Southgate. Everything he says is calm, intelligent, measured, and true. He's very honest. I was concerned when he got the job, but I really like him. I think he's done a very good job so far. I think he's made the England squad, like a club squad, which I didn't think was possible. The training ground plays and set-pieces have been incredible. A Manager with a bit of tactical intelligence and plans on the Training pitch, put into practice in important games is really refreshing.

No matter what happens from now on in the World Cup. I think he's more than earned the right to keep learning on the job, and continue to push the National team in the direction he's been heading. If he does enough to not embarrass himself like a loss to Iceland type event, where the press will ruin his integrity with the fans and players. Then I think he could start to build something very positive and progressive.

Southgate on yellow cards shaping final position if [HASHTAG]#ENGBEL[/HASHTAG] drawn: "If I go and headbutt Roberto (Martinez) in the final five minutes then you know we are taking a different approach to going through!" <laugh>

Agree with what you've written here, the step up from the youth sides has been very natural for him, and I think he naturally commands respect from players from his work with them before they broke through.

I never backed the Germans, It must have been that damned predictive text!
I definitely said Brazil (Subject to further predictive text errors in the next 80 minutes!)
"noch vier Jahre verletzt"

Bah!
