Iran have been unlucky not to grab a draw against Spain. Played a decent counter attacking strategy - In fact I think with better forwards that's probably the best way to beat Spain.

They were overly negative in the beginning and only really started to play being 1 down. Should have been a bit more adventurous at the start of the second half. But still, happy that they aren't going through. They haven't done anything other than defend well, which isn't what you want to see in the World Cup.

What on earth happened at the end, with 40 seconds left, the Iranian player decides to pull a front flip throw in and fails completely

The Super Eagles have landed with a very good performance against Iceland. Musa was the standout player but they played with a lot more flair and penetration.

Unfortunately they face Argentina next and chances are they will play considerably better than the tripe they've served up against Iceland and Croatia. Hoping Nigeria do it...

Serbia v Switzerland should be a very competitive game.

Watch out for Milinkovic-Savic this guy is gonna be something special.

Englands looking strong. That was a great result:emoticon-0167-beer:

Kane is World Class - I think there's no debating that.

Uruguay are genuine challengers for this tournament IMO.

Cavani and Suarez up top can take anyone apart

Torreira and Rodriguez are perpetual motion in midfield

and Godin is an absolute monster at the back.

He did look good with Rodriquez, they swarmed, recovered the ball and passed it on. Kept things moving. Maybe it's something that Emery has in mind?

Just got back from a week in Tenerife with my mates watching the football.

A week of non stop football, banter, and drinking - with no wives moaning about any of it.

Nearly missed the England game on Sunday as couldn’t wake up from the night before !

Already starting to plan Euros 2020.

Cmon England

Sounds like a fun time. <ok>

Argentinas defence was soo open.

Mascherano is clearly past his best also but I thought Banega was excellent. He tackles, makes runs and is quality on the ball.

The lack of movement from the Argentine players was diabolical. Their midfield was non-existent throughout certain periods of the game and their defence is far from convincing, either.

Despite dominating possession, they didn't create an awful lot.

They need players to make diagonal runs and get behind the fullback, instead of constantly passing it around laboriously and out wide without taking anyone on. Would have helped if they had a creative midfielder in their team, but don't think they have anyone, apart from Lanzini who has a long-term injury.

Di Maria, for example, kept passing the ball backwards or sideways. There was no inventiveness or willingness to run at the Nigerian defence.

Only when Pavon and Meza came on as subs is when Argentina started to look like they could break between the lines.

They will struggle big time if they continue to play like that.
