I watched the highlights again last night - it must rank as one of the most one-sided defeats for an England Team ever McCullum was great to watch though!
West Indies beat Pakistan by 150 runs in Christchurch West Indies 310 for 6 (Ramdin 51, Simmons 50, Russell 42) - Pakistan 160 (Akmal 59, Maqsood 50, Taylor 3-15, Russell 3-33)
Bangladesh will leave Brisbane with one point from their Group A match against Australia after incessant rain forced an total abandonment at the Gabba. The game was officially called off at 4.42 pm, a little more than two hours after the scheduled start. This result could comeback to haunt England
Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan by four wickets in Dunedin Sri Lanka 236 for 6 (Jayawardene 100, Perera 47*, Hamid 3-45) - Afghanistan 232 (Stanikzai 54)
India beat South Africa by 130 runs n Melbourne India 307 for 7 (Dhawan 137, Rahane 79) - South Africa 177 (Du Plessis 55, Ashwin 3-41)
Finally England win a game!! England beat Scotland by 119 runs in Christchurch England 303 for 8 (Moeen 128, Bell 54, Davey 4-68) - Scotland 184 (Coetzer 71, Finn 3-26, Moeen 2-47)
A win's a win, but it was still unconvincing apart from Moeen Ali. England scored 131 off the last 20 overs on a good batting wicket v Scotland. That will hardly send shivers down the spines of teams who would be aiming for 131 off the last 10 overs against better bowling attacks.
West Indies beat Zimbabwe by 73 runs in Canberra West Indies 372 for 2 (Gayle 215, Samuels 133*) - Zimbabwe 289 (Williams 76, Ervine 52, Taylor 3-38) West Indies opener Chris Gayle hit the first double century in World Cup history in their Pool B victory over Zimbabwe. It was the fastest ODI double century (there have been 4 others). The stand of 372 with Marlon Samuels - after Dwayne Smith had departed for a second-ball duck - was also a record partnership for any ODI wicket, surpassing the 331 shared by India's Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar against New Zealand at Hyderabad in 1999.
Batsman Upul Tharanga is called into Sri Lanka's World Cup squad as a replacement for injured all-rounder Jeevan Mendis. Bangladesh pace bowler Al-Amin Hossain has been sent home after breaking a team curfew in Brisbane on February 19.
Ireland beat UAE by 2 wickets in Brisbane Ireland 279 for 8 (Wilson 80, K O'Brien 50, Javed 3-60) - UAE 278 for 9 (Anwar 106)
Afghanistan beat Scotland by one wicket Afghanistan 211 for 9 (Shenwari 96, Ahmadi 51, Berrington 4-40) - Scotland 210 (Shapoor 4-38, Dawlat 3-29) It's a shame the number of "Associate Nations" has been reduced in the next World Cup, because they have definitely brought something to this one
Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 92 runs in Melbourne Sri Lanka 332 for 1 (Dilshan 161*, Sangakkara 105*) - Bangladesh 240 (Sabbir 53, Shakib 46, Malinga 3-35)
Both Afghanistan and Bangladesh look a handful. England by no means certain to beat either next month (Afghanistan up on Friday 13th!!) They're just missing a couple of star players who would either get 260/270 runs up to 300+ or restrict the opposition by that crucial 30/40 runs.
Scotland's players have been fined for a slow over rate in their tense World Cup defeat by Afghanistan. The International Cricket Council deemed the Scots were "one over short of its target" in Dunedin on Thursday. The Scots were fined 10% of their match fees, with captain Preston Mommsen, who pleaded guilty to the offence, paying double the amount.
