Yup, Northwest Airlines Gatwick - Minneapolis. The Aussies were going home the long/wrong way round. Problems with Qantas apparently. Anyway, they were flying on to LA then back to Oz.
They were rather noisy, got chucked out of first class and joined the riff raff, complete with RWC and the 747's supply of champagne. Interestingly, the only player missing was Campese, who they to a man, detested.
I believe that I am the only Scotsman to have drunk champagne out of the RWC. Certainly at that height

I was at the Final with my late brother in law. We parked in the Harlequins car park (£20 back then) - we were the 4th car there, and sleeping in the 2nd car was the late, great Ray Gravelle!
When the whistle blew for no side, we ran to the car - we were first out. Had a pint in Maesteg 2.5hrs later, first of the day as I was the driver!
