As for Franco, my Spanish Teacher for A Level (my favourite teacher of all - RIP Ray
) believed that they kept Franco (artificially) alive solely to achieve that symmetry - amazingly the days almost match as well.
I mentioned it to a Spanish Professor who called it hogwash ......

I will have to contact a Spanish Professor who Ray taught a couple of years after me and seek Derek’s own view. He’s from my home village - and lived just 4 or 5 doors from my (paternal) grandparents.

Anyway, just booked 11 nights in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Never been to Tenerife before - the hotel has been recommended to me by 2 people (1 of who has an apartment nearby)
