I might (just might mind) watch the final if we are in it.

I have nothing against women's football.
What I am against is disproportionate representation of the sport coverage on websites like the BBC in comparison with the actual size of its fanbase.
17 million watched the Euros final last year. That fan base looks sizeable to me.

I’m talking about the coverage of women’s football in general.
An American woman footballer announcer her retirement a few weeks ago and BBC put it fourth on their main news page.
Most of the population would have never heard of her.

Most of the population have never heard of Rishi Sunak and Tyson Fury. It’s news, not a popularity contest.

That's just silly, they don't announce every retirement. They focus on the people or jobs that have made the news. It's also that exposure that has a big say in the money involved.

You mean Rapinoe? Someone who arguably has been the most important global figure in women’s football over the last 15 years?

Depending on what else was around that day she arguably should have been the top story.

These conversations are boring when the country purposefully held women back from playing to their full potential for so long. It’s catching up from an unequal position and it’s doing great.

This Haiti game has been really interesting. They’ve been a lot better than I was expecting but reminds me how difficult a top class team must find it against passion and a bit of chaos.

thank you for making my point.
The most important figure in women’s global football movement for the past 15 years and very few of the population have heard of her.

I also don’t know who has been the most influential figure in winter slalom racing for the past 15 years because I don’t follow minority sports

You mean the women who the second she announced her retirement suddenly thinks men should be allowed to play women's football if they identify as a woman..... guessing she's conveniently forgot what happened when they played the under 14/5s boys team and more recently the Wrexham "legends" which included Lee Trundle. Or is it that now it won't really effect her, she can jump on the bandwagon to feather her nest in retirement

You’d have to avoid the news completely for years to have not heard of Rapinoe, her exposure has gone far beyond just football.

Ah the trans debate pops up in a completely unrelated discussion.

No debate to be had, just pointing out what Megan is actually like, if you have some time and want to, take a deeper dive into her and you may be surprised.

I honestly can’t remember the names of any of the England women’s football team apart from the one who turned up on I’m a celebrity despite the fact that at least one of them seems to turn up at half time of every sky or bt sports game.

The USA 5-2 loss to Dallas U15’s was embarrassing for them, but the Wrexham game was 7 v 7 retired Wrexham v retired USA women, it was completely meaningless.

7 ex pro men Vs 7 ex pro women and it still proves the gap is huge, it may have been a meaningless game but it still shows the fundamentals of letting men play against women is any competitive environment is just daft and will drive women's sport backwards.

Women's sport in all forms is growing and getting better daily, the standard is getting better and better. Allowing "men" to compete in women's sport is going to strangle that at best and at worst potentially cause much worse

I have nothing against women’s football.
But I have zero interest in it.

the average attendance at a WSL match is 6500.

That’s only slightly higher than men’s league 2 average attendances yet there will be two to three WSL stories on the main bbc football page every day even when there isn’t a World Cup on.

Nobody has said anything about women playing men other than you, it’s not going to drive women’s sport backwards, as it’s not going to happen.
